This was my first school ever. I attended back in 1997 and stayed until fourth grade before I had to move. I don't know if any of the original teachers are there, such as Mrs. Blizzard, Mrs. Bells, and my speech teacher Mrs. Sippola? (I apologize if I got that wrong.). Anyway, my name is Amber R. Foster. I'm 24, and I"m about to be entering my last year in college. Just thought I'd say hi :)

My daughter just finished Kindergarten at Hale Road. She is reading books and really excelled this year. Great Job Hale Road!

I'm the mother of twins who attend Hale road and I can say nothing but wonderful things about the staff and all involved in my childrens education. Mr. Miley and all the teachers make us feel as if they care about our kids as much as we do! Kudos to all at Hale Road!

Just moved to painesville from nyc. In kindergarden at the nyc school, my son had a great time, but he has told me he loves his 1st grade class and this school way better then the one in nyc, and he is learning soooo much. Hale road is a great school!

The teachers and staff at Hale Road are first rate, and go above and beyond consistently. They are supported by an active PTO and the kids clearly benefit from everyone's efforts.

I have 2 children a son who is in 5th grade & a daughter who is in 2nd grade. When my son was in 1st grade he was involved the Title I reading program for 5 months. Since that time he is now a reading coach for the Elementary children grades K through 4. The Principal, Mr. Miley, gets very involved and know the children and their parents personally. All of the teachers are very professional and go 'way beyond their scope of teaching'. Hale Road Elementary has been a 'Hall of Fame' school for many years and sure many more to come.

In 2010-2011, the Ohio Department of Education used the Value-Added Measure to show how much growth students made on the Ohio Achievement Test since the last school year. The state expects that student test scores will show an average year's worth of growth compared to test scores from the previous year. Ohio's Value-Added Measure is not the same as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), a federal measure which uses different criteria.

About the tests


Ohio uses the Performance Index to provide an overall indication of how well students perform on its standardized tests each year. The Performance Index scores are based upon how well each student does on all tested subjects in grades 3 through 8 and 10. Schools and districts earn anywhere from 1.2 points for each student scoring at the advanced level to zero points for each untested student. The Performance Index ranges between 0 and 120, with 100 as the statewide goal for all students.
