I have 3 children in the school and they are all excelling. The teachers are excellent. They know and understand the needs of the kids in their classes. They provide differentiated education to challenge students and help each child grow according to his/her abilities. The administration is responsive and welcoming. The Schechter community is engaged and warm. My whole family feels at home there and I know my children will not only have lifelong friends from Schechter but will have the academics, skills, values, confidence, and Jewish knowledge to make thoughtful, responsible choices and succeed in life. I can't rave enough about this school and the value for my children!
My kids excelled in high school and college because of Schechter! The school has high expectations and finds ways to make each child successful. My two kids were very different, but the teachers found a way to make each of them feel special.
Schechter has an amazing child centered approach to kids. The teachers were wonderful. They found a way for each of my kids to thrive! They couldn't wait to go to school each day. My kids knew their teachers cared about them.
We had nothing but problems with the administration and teachers at this school. There is a great deal of bullying and cliquish behavior among the students and the teachers and administration do very little to correct the situation. The guidance counselor is supposed to have programs with the kids about socialization, but she is so overworked with the problems that it is not consistent. Our issues with the dynamics of the class (bullying, physical stuff) were consistently ignored by the prinicipal. The teachers my kids had were rarely engaged with them. I went to one conference in November and the teacher had no idea what my liked, was doing, or who his friends were. We pulled them out after that and went to the community Jewish school and have been thrilled with the experience there. If you have doubts about Schechter, don't go!
