Worst school that you could have your child attend. Teacher do not teach...
Portsmouth High School facilites and students are outstanding. Our band is the best.
Portsmouth High School is on the upswing. New schools have been built with all the latest innovations and teaching aids. The teachers and administrative staff do their best to help students. Everything is geared to helping and encouraging students to do their best. Portsmouth's best days are ahead.
Every school has children that fall through the cracks. No school is perfect, but Portsmouth has alot of great people in the system working to make improvements. I think they are on the right track & doing a great job. We are very happy with all that they have to offer students at all levels. I have a child in the honors program & she has to study very hard to get good grades. I also have a child who needs extra help & it has been provided. Many people that are negative aren't pleased with anything.
Portsmouth High offers the best a public school can offer. My son is involved in athletics and drama. He has learned to appreciate children of other races and cultures. He is involved in the drama program, something he would never have considered at his other school. The media program is one of the best in the region.
I am a graduate of Portsmouth High and the parent of two current students. The school offers a wide variety of opportunities. The student body offers the best opportunity in the county to learn about different cultures and races. All six of my siblings attended PHS and all have earned a college degree.
I attended Portsmouth City Schools kindergarten through high school. I must say that I was never satisfied with my education. Portsmouth's education system leaves a lot to be desired. I am now a parent myself and chose to move out of state in the best interest of my child's education. I am dismayed by Porstmouth schools lack of diversity. Honestly, I would not recommend these schools. So many students have fallen through their cracks. Students seem to be passing on to the next grade when they don't even meet the standards. This is truly sad. No child should be left behind.
I am not a parent but a graduate. I am currently an undergrad at one of Ohio's public universities. Because of the dedicationg of my teachers in high school I was prepared for the transition into college. I had a wonderful experience at Portsmouth High School where I was involved in sports, music, student organizations and student government. I believe PHS has the best programs within in the county and no one realizes it but people like me who experience it first hand. Parental involvement was very visible throughout my four years but there always is room for more. It was always the upper class and smarter students parents who helped out. A great school! It is by far the best, most diverse, most inviting, well known school throughout the state in Scioto County.
