Warm friendly nurturing school with tuns of parent involvement. A great start for little minds!
The school has a friendly atmosphere but classroom management is an issue. A few children garner the majority of the teachers time while the others manage as best they can.
My daughter is enrolled in Kindergarten here and has Mrs. Goodman. We are very pleased with the schools curriculum. Her art teacher Mr. Rocco is fantastic and really encourages my daughters creative side. She has grown both socially and academically since starting Kindergarten last fall. I highly recommend this school.
I can not say enough great things about Goldwood. My wife and I debated for what seemed like years on where our eldest daughter would go to school when she entered kindergarten, either our parish school (St. Chris) or Goldwood. We ultimately decided on Goldwood and could not be happier. Our daughter is now in first grade and she is flourishing. The teachers and the academic programs to this point have been exceptional. The school offers all the traditional classes including music, art, etc. I have been very pleased with the amount of homework that has been given especially this year as well as the amount of parent involvement that is expected. There also appears to be a focus on identifying the child's strengths and weaknesses early on and communicating those with the parents. Overall, Goldwood is truly an outstanding primary school.
My son is entering first grade and he is so ready for this next level. He started K with reading PreK - First grade books and now easily reads at the 2nd grade level. Their individualized attention has allowed him to progress at his own pace. He also loves math and can make change, add and subtract without difficulty. He is enjoying the whole experience including Mr. Rocco's art program.
My son is in first grade at Goldwood and I love this school. The relationship that the teachers have with the parents is phenominal. They constantly communicate with me and if I ever have a question, I get a response back the same day. This is a very safe and secure school and along with the academics, the children learn manners and respect for others. I think that is important to learn as much as math and reading etc.
Before moving to Rocky River, I spent alot of time researching schools for my 7 year old son. I was so impressed with the 'long distance' interest the school took with us and the feedback from other parents was so positive and eliminated any fears and concerns I had about uprooting my child mid-school year. The education he has received in the past 6 months has been so far advanced from his previous school and I am so pleased with the special attention he recieved while the teachers were bringing him up to speed. The difference between Goldwood Elementary and his old WV elementary school is night and day, even to the way that Goldwoods belief in positive reinforcement, complete opposite to his WV school, where it seemed only the negative was emphasied. I am so pleased with this school and highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
This school is the best. I have a child in 1st grade here and my daughter just moved to Kensington. I would recommend this school to anyone who has children starting school. Hats off to the Staff at Goldwood!
I debated about sending my son to private school or the public and chose to find a house in Rocky River and send him to the public schools. My brother and I grew-up going to Rocky River public schools and both had great experiences. My son has made a place for himself at Goldwood, feels very safe and secure, and enjoys going to school everyday. The teachers and other school staff are wonderful and loving. Parents play important roles at the school also. The teacher student ratio is lower then most schools in the area and the classes and school are kept clean. The walls are places to hold the students art work. I am glad I chose to send my son to Goldwood, his home away from home.
