My daughter is in the 5th grade, she has always had excellent behavior and good grades. Her teacher yells at her and certain other children, and on occasion has causes them to cry. If my daughter or one of the other children make a low grade, the teacher announces it to the class. The school staff know what is going on, but has not dealt with the matter. Needless to say, this teacher is destroying my daughters self esteem. We have lived here for several years and this is the first teacher I have had real problems with.
I have 3 children in this school district, and I am amazed at the care and time that each of my children get from their teachers and other staff. They all seem to go above and beyond my expectations. This is a caring community with wonderful parents and wonderful teachers.
My child and I are very happy with the teachers and staff. They really care about us. This is a great school district. My son is on an IEP an we are pleased with the help that he gets. The teachers are wonderful. Andrea
My child has ADHD and attends Russellville Elementary. Last year I constantly received calls from the school about his behavior. I felt like they were unable to handle him. This is when I took him to the doctor and he was diagnosed with ADHD. My oldest son has graduated out of the elementary school into the middle school. The biggest problem we have had is that my children can't read very well. It seems like the teachers are pressured into making high scores on the O.A.T. test rather than educating the children. I feel like I am educating my children after I return home from a long day at work. It seems they haven't learned anything all day at school. This could be partly my child's fault. I know another family who took their children to an outside learning center, and now they are reading great.
I've had many troubles with this school. My daughter's teacher promises to help by cooperating with my suggestions, but never follows through with the plan. She is transferring!
We came from about two hours away. So my children were going to have to make new friends. I needed for this to be a comfortable and smooth transition for them. My oldest daughter has ADHD and generalized anxiety. So the move was especially rough for her. But at her previous school she was on the honor roll. When she got here she was making new friends and liked it a lot. Then I noticed something changing in her. I got her report card and she is failing...miserably. I went to the school and asked for help. Told them what worked in the past and they promised me it would be done. None of it got done. They are quick to disipline her but, are never there to support her. She has a disability. It affects her everyday life. Now we are having to move back to their old school so she can get the help she deserves.
