The five years my child was in this district, the grades dropped abysmally, his/her behavior was unprecedented, he/she was depressed, and fought gouing to school. The curriculum relies on overwhelming amounts of homework. Bullying is a problem that is overlooked and certainly not discipline worthy. This school constantly cries for money with endless fundraisers, pushing the students to sell, sell, sell! If appearances are your priority, then Firelands is the place for you!
My son entered the district in 3rd grade after attending Avon St. Mary's. I found out he was a year behind academically. Once here, the teacher worked very hard to bring him up to where he should have been. I have found 90% of the teachers to be extremely good. The support system is excellent. They have a variety of programs for the students that promote growth in various areas. Next year is high school, I hope to continue to be pleased with the school district.
