My kids attended a private school prior to South Point. Taking them out of the private school and putting them in SP was the BEST thing I could have done. I'm not crazy about the principal, too macho, gung ho for my taste, but the teachers are wonderful.
South Point High School is on fire with excitement and the leadership shows! Students have on the school colors everyday and it seems like a new way of thinking is spreading.
A true pleasure! Students, community, and faculty are together to have the best school on the river.
This school is on the move! It is doing better now that we have solid leadership!
The only thing good about this school is the new school! Changes principals just about every year....does not have a good repuation in the community....
If the stream of former students reporting the excellent preparation for college counts for anything, I would have to believe the high school is academically strong and heading in a positive direction. Frequently I run into former students who thank me and the other staff members, noting that the hard work expected of them while attending South Point High has made the transition to college a smoother one.
South Point high school has been going down hill for the past few years. We now only have 1 forgien language class (Spanish). I will, however, give credit to the S.C.O.R.E.S acedemics team, we have one the county wide competion for the past eight years or so. (Our Football team on the other hand, with as much publicity as it gets, only won a single game this year.) All in all, this is basically a school with a very minimalistic approach. They spare every expence...literally.
I was in SPHS 2 years ago so now the administration has changed. I took all of the college-prep courses while I was in school and I feel that it has very well prepared me for college. I'm at Ohio University now working to become an Audiologist.
