To The Only Parent Writing A Review As of This Time: Sadly, I agree with you, & I support you & I'm so sorry for what you & your child/ren have to endure. This site is such a disappointment {although not surprising} that one writing a review is being held in a choke-hold of censorship, "conditions", etc. No thanks....I'm choosing to express myself where our right to "FREEDOM OF SPEECH" is freely granted.....Facebook. {P.S.My version of "the star rating" is...Our School "gets" 4 stars because the great majority of our teachers' MAIN priorities are their STUDENTS...& they treat them fairly & equally, & they could care less what their last names are/aren't, who their parents are/aren't, etc. Teacher Quality: The same reasons previously stated, plus they CARE. Principal Leadership: 4, Because he's more of a problemSOLVER, than problemMAKER. *I'm treating "Parent Involvement" as meaning how involved my sons' teachers are/have been re: keeping ME updated re: anything having to do w/their lives @ school.} Donna D. The high school rating, 5 out of possible 10 doesn't begin to cast light on the degree of mediocrity present here. Bullying against new students or those with any form of learning disability is rampant. Several have withdrawn in favor of online schools rather than be subjected to the further insult of being disciplined for defending themselves. If you're satisfied with a school district that still schedules its opening to allow time for the county fair, then perhaps this is good enough. The district like to cite the fact that they are awarded a state honor for achievement each year, but truth is - you get that just for having toilet paper in the rest rooms. Overall, if you're happy with a school where your child will be an outcast and ostracized just for being new or different, this is the place for you. If the idea that a public meeting over renewing the football coach's contract draws more attendance than any other school board business, your priorities will be met here.

I've found that throughout my years at Spencerville, the entire atmosphere is just great. The teachers are very caring and the students are over-all well behaved. Being a small school, it's great to have a staff who will reach out to each individual. I've really noticed how much of a family our school has become since we got our new school. The academics are growing as well as the athletics and school spirit.
