Rogers is a better enviorment for my children and i'm a teacher a Southview...Go Rams!!!
One day I was walking to class and I accidentally dropped all of my books and they ended up all over the floor. Kids who passed by walked over and helped me pick them up. Not just one kid, a few actually. I think this really says something about the students at Southview. On top of that, Southview provides a great academic program. You can take all different kinds of classes and they range from easy to incredibly challenging. There are a lot of Honors and AP classes and I guarantee you will never find yourself bored in a class unless it's something like English where you are required to take it. The athletic program is amazing. Our football team is always ranked top. As for extracurriculars, there is just so much I could say. The Speech/Debate team, led by Mr. Clarkson (who is amazing) is absolutely phenomenal.
Excellent academics; good -- although a little dated -- facilities; large school; teachers seem good and interested in the students.
Sylvania Schools have a reputation for academic excellence, and we found this to be true during my daughter's 4 years there. There are a wide variety of opportunities. For example, a wonderful orchestra program and many advanced placement courses. There are many extracurriculars. A large percentage of students are well prepared to succeed at top colleges like Harvard and the like. Some individual teachers are excellent. I was struck, however, that often teachers showed little respect for the students. I felt this was modeled by the principal. There never seemed to be much real caring or even relationship between the principal or most teachers and the students. For example, my daughter was active in a variety of activities, in top 2% of class, won numerous awards, etc -- but the principal didn't know her name when she was a senior. I would say the atmosphere is not particularly friendly.
southview is very cool and the teachers are cool too.
Being a senior at southview is awesome! I've been there for 4 years and they've all been great. the entire staff is exceptional. Our school district has earned an excellent rating from the state and you can see why when you walk in the halls and sit in the classes. Everybody is polite and curtious, and the whole student body is treated the same: whether they're freshmen or seniors. (although i must admit, seniors ARE treated better by the staff....but nobody is really supposed to know that, lol.) Southview is definatly a superb school.
For the record, Southview does not have grades 7 and 8 in it. I am freshman, so I only have been going to Southview for a few weeks but I love it! We have great teachers and principals. We have an amazing football team and other athletics. We also have one of the best student bodies in Ohio. Because I am a freshman, I can tell you that the upperclassmen are very kink and helpful. Yes they see us as little freshman, but if we need help, they are always ready to lend a hand. Southview, it really is an amazing school and I already love it!
