We love Bethel! Being a small community there is excellent parental support and involvement. The vast majority of students at Bethel participate in multiple school activities, from sports, to band, cheerleading, etc. One of the great things is the school works to allow students more opportunities to participate in multiple activities whereas a larger schools sytem could not facilitate this. There are many committed and caring educators and administrators that help make this school exceptional. While it might not offer quite all the opportunities of a larger system, I believe it more than makes up for this in the 'heart' that it provides.

Bethel is a small school with many caring teachers. Class size is usually relatively small (20 or under) and there are music, gym and art classes for each grade. There is an attempt to address the needs of the talented & gifted children (3 grade and up) but it is such a short amount of time (1 to 2 hours/week) that I hardly think it makes a difference. I find my children have quite a bit of free time in their classrooms - movies (from Cars to Eragon this year), end of month parties, 20 minutes at the end of each day to do homework, etc. Academically, they could be more progressive. My children do a lot of worksheets. Every so often there is a hands-on-project that relates to the topic. An afterschool computer club is the only extracurricular that is sponsored by the school. No science fair, no Odyssey of the Mind, etc.

Bethel is a great area to raise kids, I like the smaller school for my kids. I do wish Bethel was a little more progressive academically and philosophically.
