My kids have went to Hawkins for three years now and I think this is a good school. Teachers send home many letters to let you know progress or behavior problems homework is daily. Has nice family functions. It could use some work but it is a good public school overall.

I am very dissapointed with how Hawkins handles diciplinary procedures. If a student harm another child in any physical way they should be disciplined! I don't believe in any excuses. I must say I am not impressed with Hawkins. They must not pick and choose what rules to follow. I also have experienced very poor parent/ teachers communication.

My thoughts about Hawkins have went down SO much in the last 5 years. We have been at hawkins ...this will be our 6th year. The assistant principal is terrible. She walks around the school with a bull horn screaming in childrens faces, and that unacceptable. All of my children hate her and slowly Im beginning to see why (without going into details). The principal is great. She is good with the kids and really cares. Hawkins has some top of the line teachers, but on the other hand some of the teachers there need to retire. Im sad to say that I would now, never reccomend Hawkins to a freind.

I had my daughter here one year and I am not impressed. The lack of communication between the school and parents is crazy. They did nothing about it, not even apologized. They did not take any field trips and the luches were small, my daughter refused to buy.

I pulled my daughter out of Hawkins Elem. because I was scared for her safety. There is no dicipline at this school. Only the Assist. Principal is watching the children during recess. There are no hall monitors, and the little children get knocked over and stepped on in the hallways after school. I have witnessed many fights on occasion of picking my child up after 3:00 pm. I stopped the bus transportation because she was being bullied by other students.

I have 2 children at Hawkins and I must say they have had a fairly good experience. 90% of the teachers are excellent! Discipline is what is lacking at Hawkins. The assistant principle is not very 'kid oriented'. She doesn't take the time to listen and figure out the problem. She's too busy being a 'warden'. There needs to be more parental involvement!

My daughter has been there for a complete three years. This school year..she has started 4th. She has had excellent experiences with every teacher she has had. I believe that the parental involvement with the student has much to do with their sucess as well as the teacher. She has been respected, and she has learned each and every year. The negativity that I feel is due to the behavior of some of the children..and with teachers not able to discipline, it is hard to try to teach and 'babysit' at the same time. But my comments about this school are all positive. The playground could be updated!
