I attended Old Orchard as a child and also worked as an adult directly with students during their after-school program. The teachers are not only competent, but care for the children in their classrooms and work diligently to see them succeed.
Academically, I feel my daughter could be more challenged, but that could be said of any school I suppose. I do give kudos to the Principal, Mrs. Dreier - she takes her job very seriously and every time I have approached her with an issue regarding bullying, issues with another student, or problems with my own child, she addresses it immediately. My child has health issues, and she has been very gracious in working with me and making sure my child does not fall behind,. I absolutely LOVE her!
When my son started here they were very kind and considerate to his needs he was a very shy kid and didnt like to associate with too many ppl. His teacher in a sense broke him out of his shell he is doing excellent and has many new friends. He loves going to school. The principal talks to all the kids and knows most of their names by the end of the first month. She is awesome. I havent had any issues with this school. Another thing is the parents here are awesome too. And all the teachers they all seem so nice and understanding to the kids' needs. Thanks old orchard!
1) Too many children per room. 2) When a teacher does not show up for her assigned class the principal splits the class with out a teacher into already assigned class rooms, no matter to the grade, making an already over crowded class room even worse. 3) The School does not look at transferring students school records upon entering the school, to check for health concerns, emergancy contact numbers or even parent work numbers, In fact, they do not have parents fill out emergancy cards upon enrolling a student.
