Ottawa Hills Elementary School has the best teachers, hands down! I'm not being partial either. OHES is always on top in Ohio for academic achievement. What about the Green Bear spirit? You can feel the energy of OHES as soon as you walk through the doors! This coupled with the respect and caring students at OHES have for one another makes for an outstanding learning environment. Oh, and did I mention the importance placed on the Arts?! OHES has an amazing Brown Bag Choral group for 5th and 6th graders, and an amazing Art room-- complete with it's own kiln! Plenty of sports and extracurricular clubs and activities are also a big part of what makes OHES tick. Children that attend Ottawa Hills Elementary School are happy indeed, and you can tell by their wide smiles!
Is usually the number one or top three schools in Ohio. Teachers offer fun activities like science club and after school art. My son loves learning because the teachers are so good.
We have a great staff that encourages not only learning, but teaches our students to be caring and responsible young people.
Very, very happy with academic curriculum. Our child has a disability and has flourished at OHES. We wish, however, principal had better leadership skills and could unite his staff as a team rather than individual players.
Although our village proudly has high academic standards and achievement success in large numbers of our school's children; unfortunately, the same high degree of academic advantage does not exist for many of our most disadvantaged, vulnerable, and needy children; namely, our 'Special Needs' children. I have children whom are on both sides of this educational gap in our schools; therefore I do see firsthand the struggles, hardship, and effects caused by the shortage of academic services provided and available to our 'Special Needs' children within our village schools. Many of our families in the village with 'Special Needs' children have bonded, united, formed an educated parenting team specifically designed to help our children, advocating on our children's behalf, to begin closing the academic gaps, and ensure our 'Special Needs' children have the same academic advantage as any other child!
High academic achievement, great community support, high level of parent involvement, strong art and music, great projects in each grade
Great school. Lots of individual attention. Village has a good sense of community and every child is known by name. Less than 1000 students in the whole school district.
