I have been attending Rosary Cathedral for about 3 years ,I enjoy my school. Our principal is wonderful also many of the teachers. The class sizes are small ,so that the teacher can help you more. We help each other .It's almost like family. We attend church every Wensday. Also we have a great sports program. Tutors volunteer and help us with our homework. By going hear I have well prepared for my future.I have a better relationship with God . Also 18 out of 20 students in 8th grade are attending Central Catholic! =]
I am a teacher in good standing at Rosary Cathedral School. The school cares only about how much money they get from the state. We have a very dedicated staff who bends over backwards and tries to do a good job. However, they receive little support. Staff is not appreciated and told when we have problems that God is the answer. If we fail due to a lack of funding or support, we are questioned. If you are considering employment at this school as a teacher, you should look elsewhere. Outside of the problems I have mentioned, teachers are paid below the poverty line. We are expected to keep up with our education and are not compensated. If a teacher puts in 20 years in at this school, they can hope to make $30,000 a year. Starting pay is $20,000-$21,000 a year. Staff is spread incredibly thin. Professional development is non-existent and there is no incentive to earn a Master's degree. Lunches have to be prepared outside of the school building and shipped to the school because they can't get a health inspector to sign off on the kitchen because the Diocese is unwilling to change their policy.
I pulled my child out of this school because the preschool was out of ratio (too many students to one teacher). At the time, they had one teacher and one aid with almost 20 preschool students. My child was in constant trouble in school because of the chaos in the classroom. Also, my child picked up lots of new 'vocabulary' words from the other students. The teacher is really very good, but she is overworked and doing the work of three teachers.
Rosary is a great school my son has been going there since k. And now he's in the 3rd. I love the school
My son has been going here since pre4. Since he first started something has gone terrible wrong. While the teachers are great, the school's student population has changed. There is trouble with fighting, name calling, bullying and just general disrespect from both students and parents. I am very disappointed in the changes. The principle states they are working on the problems, but so far no change. My son will not be attending next year.
This school is a great asset to my childs life. The staff as a whole has worked with my child and I to better her school expirience.
