I like the above average academic curriculum provided at TSA and the opportunities to advance her talent via private lessons. She was bullied at other schools quite often but has not experienced any of that at TSA -- there is is a real sense of acceptance at the school. I am NOT happy, however, with the disorganization that seems to prevail events/concerts, etc. There are alot of extra expenses you will have to pay here too - but those are really the only down sides (disorganization and extra expense) - they are balanced out by the fact that my daughter is happy and NOT being bullied! :)
I am extremely pleased with the decision to enrolled my daughter in TSA. I have watched her blossom from a friendly, happy girl with natural talent into an extremely happy and talented young woman who has also excelled in her academics. TSA offers so many amazing opportunities and I can't wait to see what comes next.
The school is one of the top charter schools in the country. The classroom sizes are small and the teachers really care about their students.
TSA is the most innovative school in the Toledo area, they incorporate the arts into every traditional school subject. Kids are eager to go to school because creativity and participation are fostered.
Although focussed on the Arts the students, who are more economically, and ethnically mixed than many schools, consistently score very high on academic tests.
TSA is the best school I've ever had the pleasure of going to. I love it! I enjoy being able to express myself in a creative and accepting environment. I couldn't ask for a better school.
I am a student entering my fourth year at TSA, it is a school where you can be creative but not laughed at for it, very easy to make friends and find help in almost all types of art, with excellent academic teachers as well!
Both of my children graduated from TSA. The experience changed their lives! The faculty are completely dedicated to student success and the curriculum is extremely strong and prepares students for great academic success in college. TSA is NOT a 'fame' school - it is a college prepatory school that offers an arts-based education. The school is perfect for students seeking to develop their academic and artistic talents in an environment that encourages diversity and demands excellence. If you are anxious about sending your child to a school that is non-traditional - please don't send them to TSA. The school thrives because the students, parents, faculty, and staff approach experiential education in alternative ways. If, as a parent, you are not able or willing to get involved with your child's education - please send them to another school - YOU will work as hard as they do in the TSA family!
this was my first year in tsa, and i love it there. I actually liked getting up for school. everyone there is accepted for being weird and crazy, and i love that! of course i wish it would still stay the size it is, but the school is so good, more and more people come every year!
I am a sophomore in my second year at Toledo School for the Arts, and I feel as though I have imrpoved greatly. Not only have improved in my arts classes of theatre, dance, and photography, but I am also getting outstanding grades. I have always been an A student but I have found it easier to learn here at TSA. I really like how the academic teachers work the arts into our assignments and projects. I feel that it is an excellent school, and I am glade I made the decission to attend.
Great school for kids that excel in a creative environment! Finally, a wonderful place that doesn't revolve areound sports! It's cool to be creative here and the support and motivation that the students, faculty and administration give each other is remarkable. My kids want to get up and go to school every day. One of my children was an academic scholarship recipient at one of the catholic high schools in town and he chose to attend TSA instead because he felt it had more to offer!
TSA is the best school out there because there is no other place on the planet like it! This is my first year at the school and I am so much happier! Everyone is at TSA because we felt like we didn't fit in anywhere else. TSA faculty and students celebrate differences. That's what makes TSA. The teachers are there because they love what they do and are committed to their jobs. There is not heavy dicipline because it is just a different school and they're more leniant about the dress code because it is a form of self expression. TSA is for the kid who marches to the beat of a different drummer. Every kid at TSA has there own beat. But somehow every beat works together and the difference really doesn't matter. This is the first time in my school career I haven't wanted the school year to end!
This is my daughters first year at the school and she loves it. TSA is giving my daughter the Education she has longed for that TPS couldn't give her when she went there... Thank you Toledo School for the Arts
Although this is only my first year at TSA, I have to say that it's a very great school. The teachers do there job rather well, and everyone is friendly with each other and helps one another. It's truly unlike any other school I've been to. Not only does this school help me advance artistically, but academically, as well. I'm so lucky to be able to go to school at TSA and I love every minute of it!
TSA is the best performing arts school ever. I have had the opportunity to experience first hand of their dedication to students. I have placed my daughters on the waiting list for 2 years to be sure the have a great advantage to get in. My son when he attended was excellent and I know that have improved since then. The teachers are great, as my son was taking a music class his instructor was also my professor at the University of Toledo. I know the quality of their teachers I am very proud to be a Parent of TSA. AMG
I'm a recent graduate of TSA. I had a great time in highschool. Our class was very close, there were very few fights or arguements among students. The curriculum was not very difficult, in my opinion, but I've always been an A-B student. I think that the arts classes help less disciplined kids focus on their academic work. Mostly, the teachers are friends with students, which is nice and makes for a more pleasant environment for students. Most everyone feels comfortable talking to their teachers about their problems (personal or educational). I felt that the administration was never very powerful, and was sometimes unjust. The school is also a bit unorganized because it's so new, and the teacher turnover is kind of high.
Wonderful school! I've seen a child who was afraid and low performing blossom into a polished, self-assured person. A school that celebrates the differences in a child as something special.
i like toledo school for the arts because students that have a hard time learning in a traditional school setting get to use their artistic strengths in the academic part of their education. alot of the parents are in involved with school activities like fundraisers and dances. We have several art based classes, such as dance, theater, chorus, guitar, pop combo, jazz combo, keyboarding, various arts(photography, ceramics, general art),and two studio dance companies. then we have the regular academics, langauge, history, government, science, and many areas in mathematics. i chose to go to Toledo School for the Arts because art is how i learn. i draw picture to help me understand certain things like wars and dates and important people through different eras in history. i hope that every parent at least takes a look at TSA before drawing a conclusion about the school.
I am a student at Toledo School for the Arts. This School year I will be a Junior. And Toledo School for the Arts has prepared me to pass the OGT (Ohio Graduation Test), which I am proud to say I passed all sections on a first try. Teachers are very helpful. They make the students feel really comfortable, and they do a well done job of preparing there students for college. I would send anybody who wants an excellent education to there school.
Overall, I am not impressed with TSA; there seems to be too much emphasis placed on subjects other than the traditional subjects such as math, english, history and science. I have had very little interaction with my daughters teachers, except for one parent-teacher conference, which I had to repeatedly request. During the conference, it was the consensus of all present, that my daughter was doing very well, even though she was averaging C's in most of her classes. I was very disappointed as I am aware that my daughter is capable of much higher grades. It was as if the teachers didn't expect any more from her. I have called since that time during P-Teach. conferences requesting a conference to follow up and my telephone calls were never returned. For that reason, I am disappointed that my child has been allowed to just get by instead of encouraged to do better.
