my two children have attended this school for two years now. i have been very happy with the staff. everyone watches out for one another. both my girls have done very well as far as grades are concerned. both have been on the honor roll every quarter. sure there have been bumps in the road but mr. bean is learning. with support from parents and students this could be a wonderful place for my children to get thier education. i am truely hoping that the grades are extended to high school grades. because the only other option is waite high school. NOT MUCH OF AN OPTION. thats a scarey thought.
I pulled my children out at the end of the 2008/2009 school year . The new school leader does not know what he is doing. He does not know how to run school. The kids run the school not him. He does not get involved with the students like mr. Franklin did when he was there. I pulled both of my students and i will never send them back there ever again.
My son has been going here for 2 years and we love it. The staff is great. The teachers really care what is going on with the students. Always eager to discuss my concerns about things. The teacher stays after school to tutor the ones that are quite up to speed with the others. Like a private school without the high tuition. Even better! The more the school grows, the more extracurricular activities the introduce.
I think that Eagle Academy has improved by leaps and bounds in the past year and I'm very happy with the improvements my 5th grader is making. They have a stable staff that are always there to help out, they have expanded their after school activities, the new building is clean, and they are always making improvements, i.e. new playground, new gym equipment, new drinking fountains, new academic clubs. I think they are a great alternative to Toledo Public Schools, especially over here on the east side. The teachers are friendly, sensitive, and very in tune with what's going on with the kids, and they do their best to keep things interesting and relevant for them in class. This school has a lot to offer, check it out.
I think the school and staff are great. The staff works with both off my kids. My kids are getting the best education at this charter school then any other Toledo Public School. Keep up the good work Eagle Academy you and your staff.
I agree with the previous posting. My child went to Eagle the 05-06 school year. I believe we were mislead from the beginning. When we first went to enroll our daughter we were told her lesson plans would be tailored to her test results. Never happened. She brought home the same type of worksheets every week...the whole year long. The teachers and staff were friendly but no one followed through with what they said. And no one ever seemed to know what was going on. Maintained extremely poor organizational skills. School is dirty, understaffed, and unorganized. However, to be fair, Mr.Franklin, the School Leader, has the vision but I feel lacks the organization and partnership of the teachers to make his vision a reality. the teachers have no relief. They do everything. Also there is no art, music, and rarely gym. I hope this information helps you make a decision.
My daughter attended the 3rd grade at Eagle. This school is a mess! The test scores tell it all. There are no extracurricular activities, music, art or gym teachers. The classroom teacher is expected to do it all and the teacher she had, I was very disappointed. I feel she lost a whole year of learning at this school.
