It started out great but then it just got rather worse. I would like to see a better plan set in this school. I also see too much change in this school.
The old saying goes, "do not judge a book by it's cover." This saying could not be more true when pertaining to BVA. The cover (building) look wonderful from the outside. However, once you actually get into the story (the "real" school), you will soon discover it reads as a horror story full of a horrific incompetent administration lead by the ruthless villian herself(the principal). This is one book I would leave on the shelve.
It amazes me how quickly negative comments pertaining to this school are deleted. In some cases it is within twenty-four hours or less. This leads one to conclude that someone from administration is monitoring this site. The administration is lousy to say the least. The majority of teachers are inexperienced and in fact some of them are not even licensed in the subject areas they are teaching. I would not recommend this school to anyone.
BVA is a very good school. The curiculum is above average and I can say that they really do challenge each child to achieve. The communication system that they have in place is awesome. The fact that I am never surprise during report card time because their grade are available online and I can address any issue and recieve a response in a timely manner. If you live in this community, expect your child to be challenge each day. Ultimately it is up to the parent to continue the routine that is instiled in the classroom.
This is a good school if you want to be disrespected by the principal and office staff. The administartion at this school is lousy. The kids were not allowed to wear their Halloween Costumes to the Harvest Party which took place on a Saturday, because they say it teaches kids to accept death. Shouldn't we teach our children to accept death? After all isn't it a part of life?
I think this school likes to keep quiet the amount of problems they have with the middle school students. There is alot of disrespect, foul language and inappropriate behavior in the 6-8 grades here. There are alot of thugish kids who bully the rest of the students and the teachers are a little too young and inexperienced to be dealing with these issues. My children will not be returning next year.
We are excited about going into our 3rd year (3rd grade) with Bennett, wish that I would have changed schools sooner! Yes, pick up takes some time if you are not able to get to school early enough to get a parking spot however, they try very hard to keep traffic flowing and could use more parental support. Miss Simon (2nd grade) and Mrs. Okoneski (1st grade) were excellent - can not say enough great things! My daughter loves school now!
I have been a parent of 2 children that go to this school for the past 2 years now. I can't tell you enough how fantastic the teachers are here at Bennett. They go out of their own personal way to make every child have success. The only problems I have encountered come with dealing with administration. The principal is awful. It's almost as if she could care less about the children and teachers as well. If you ever have a problem that she needs to help you with you might as well forget it. As for pick up and drop off the school does its best to help everyone with the space they have. If your looking for a school with awsome educators then this is your school. If your looking for a school where the administration is helpful and kind, go to another school!
My daughter has been exceeding more an more everyday she goes to BVA! I She's been there for the past 2 yrs an bout to enter into the 2nd grade! I have my other daughter that's going into the kindergarden I've recomended this school to all my friends an anyone that would listen! It's amazing how well they work with the not only the students but the parents aswell!
My daughter has absolutely soared in every aspect at BVA after enduring 3 horrible years at TPS. All of her teachers at BVA seem to really care about her as an individual student and not just as a test score. On the other hand My son is bored in class and needs to be challenged more. He had a problem with bullies at one point during this year and we had meetings with his teachers and the principal about it. While the teachers and even the school counselor were all concerned and interested in finding a solution to this, the principal acted as if we were interrupting her day with our petty problem. She really didn't care. I've felt this attitude from the office staff as well whenever I've had to deal with them about anything. They are very rude sometimes. Picking up after school can be a nightmare, but that is a small price to pay in my opinion. Overall, the school and its educators are excellent the administrative staff and especially the principal should be replaced.
