This school is wonderful. The reading programs are goal driven, and my children are happy there.

Enrolling my boys in Heywood is one of the best decisions I've ever made. The principal is wonderful. The children all love him and you can tell they respect him. The teachers I've met so far are also great. They go above and beyond to make sure the kids are learning and getting any help they may need. My boys have learned so much in just 5 months and love going to school. This school works so hard to get parents involved in so many different ways and I'm proud to be one of those parents.

I LOVE this school. We are not even in this district, but I open enroll my kids here. The teachers and principals are absolutely WONDERFUL! I have NO complaints! :)

Heywood is a well organized, family oriented, disciplined school. The Principal, Teachers and support staff are second to none. The programs are terrific. These people are genuinely concerned with your childrens well being.

In 2010-2011, the Ohio Department of Education used the Value-Added Measure to show how much growth students made on the Ohio Achievement Test since the last school year. The state expects that student test scores will show an average year's worth of growth compared to test scores from the previous year. Ohio's Value-Added Measure is not the same as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), a federal measure which uses different criteria.

About the tests


Ohio uses the Performance Index to provide an overall indication of how well students perform on its standardized tests each year. The Performance Index scores are based upon how well each student does on all tested subjects in grades 3 through 8 and 10. Schools and districts earn anywhere from 1.2 points for each student scoring at the advanced level to zero points for each untested student. The Performance Index ranges between 0 and 120, with 100 as the statewide goal for all students.
