Butler High School is an outstanding an dprogressive school. Our children were well prepared for excellent colleges, where they performed with stellar results thanks to the preparation they received at Vandalia-Butler.

School is very innovative. Many cultural programs and a high success rate. Involved with community and has a large diversity rate. Student discipline also very well and structure of the system is great. The school also is experiencing a new remodel which is huge and will be great in boosting the pride of the Vandalia-Butler aviator!

Butler is a small school sports are not very good well the major one's aren't. There is very few good teachers most do not know how to teach. The Spanish program is very weak. Math teachers are good most of them have a good way of getting to the students.

Butler High School offers basic instruction and teachers range from very good to mediocre. AP offerings are few and some offered only senior year. Foreign language is way behind other schools (honors Spanish is like a 9th grade Spanish class). Math instructors don't know how to use calculators, such as T89! This has put my child behind from other schools in the area. School is old, run down and little to no student work on the walls to make it more appealing. Athletics are average at best. On the bright side - most teachers are very approachable and seem to have the student's interest at heart. The school is average in size -so there are smaller class sizes. There is a possibility that a new school will be built within the next few years.

I am a graduate of Butler and am I thankful that I attended such a great school. Great community involvement, school spirit, great academics, safe atmosphere, great sports programs to name a few. I can't imagine attending a school that had metal detectors, etc. Butler is great, the teachers know you by name and really care! I am now a teacher myself, and am so proud to be an alumni! Go Aviators!
