Waterville Primary is an excellent school. While it's true that there are 'centers' in the lower grades, this supplements the structured teaching and provides a necessary transition for the children. I have found the teachers and staff to be wonderful in every way, and I would recommend this school to anyone who enjoys being an informed participant in their childrens' educations.
1st & 2nd graders...not much individual or even small group work w/ the kids. Teachers rely heavily on 'Centers' where groups of kids self-teach, or goof around which is often the case. If your child isn't on the lower end of the learning continuum, you better be doing a lot of teaching at home. Good news is it's a great community, good kids, lots of parental involvement in school activities.
Nice teachers, nice kids but really lacking in actual teaching in the kindergarten grade - the only grade we are familiar with. More like play time, especially for the brighter kids.
Waterville Primary is an awesome learning place for my children. They love the school and so do we.
