I have walked through the school and see many areas that can be improved with basic maintenance; ie. window caulking, paint, nails and screws. The major cost will be in heating (so I understand)but that will still be cheaper than a new building. The academic program, aside from spending 90% of the year preparing for what amounts to a good grade for the school on proficiency tests, is quite good. Extracurricular activities are of a normal variety and add to overall development of the students. Parent involvement is another story. Unless the student is in a precarious position academically the parent rarely sees a teacher or administrator and is satisfied with the status quo. What percentage of parents attend parent/teacher conferences (or are they just for parents of students with learning difficulties)? How about a principal/parent meeting (informal) twice a year for all parents? Just about out of word space. Good luck with the great survey.
