Montessori Children's School is a warm and welcoming place for young children to realize their full potential. My daughter, an only child, has grown immensely in the three years that she has attended MCS, and the caring and compassion of the faculty, along with curriculum guided and inspired by the work of Maria Montessori, have challenged my daughter to excel. MCS focuses on the needs of the child and the work of childhood; children are encouraged to explore their world rather than focusing on preparation for state-mandated testing, as in many other early childhood and primary programs. This focus does not, however, compromise preparation to excel on broader tests of student achievement--students at MCS have consistently scored well above average on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, administered in the third grade. Montessori Children's School has made me a believer in the superiority of Montessori Education.
