Children are labeled very quickly at Holmes. The whole time they are there, their treatment is based on that. Not child oriented.

My daughter needs help! no one at this school has ever helped her she has been overlooked k-3. She's being pushed aside. She is below grading level she hates school and the only solution they can give me is to hold her back a grade. My other daughter is being bullied on a daily basis. we can't get her math teacher to explain what she can not understand. instead she gives her zeros for turning in homework blank with a note that says please help her. They can't understand why a 3rd and 5th grader hate school so much. The parking lot is a mess. If you want to drop your kids off, they will be late. They eat lunch in the gym. If you have an overweight child, they encurage it with 900 cal. lunches and a healthy breakfast that consists of rotten fruit.

The Guidance counselor needs to be more involved and less of a critic towards the children. Learning methods need to be worked on to provide the children with better understanding of what they are learning allowing them to be children at the same time. They have homework everyday, even weekends however I do not see where it helps them learn. Teachers need to be more willing to help children who are in need. There are too many teachers that are mean to the children. This school has more children who are late/tardy than any school I have ever seen, there has to be a reason. I see them acting like they are all about learning and no fun. I see our kids learning very little and having no fun. In 5 yrs my child has never had a field trip!

Mrs.Zeiglar is the best princiapl Holmes has ever had. She is a hard working principal, who truely cares about each student doing their best. She is never above pitching in to give her employees a hand.

A perfect example why Wilmington City Schools is in Crisis. When is the state of Ohio going to step in and do something about this district. It is hard to learn in an enviorment of bullying and lack of care.

My daughter has been pushed aside in school for 3 years now. She needs help, they say they will help her but they do not. Then I am blamed for my child's lack of interest in school and tardiesness do to her argueing about having to go to school in grade 2! She is reading at below grade level and math skills are the same. Where is the support? My oldest daughter is picked on to no end by bullies, they have not fixed a thing for her in 3 years. When I asked the guidiance counciler for help we were ignored as well.

This is a great school. The staff is very caring and dedicated. My child loves his teachers and they go the extra mile to meet his needs and show him that they care. The principal is retiring but I understand they will be getting a wonderful new principal for the 2008-2009 school year.
