WES is the worst elementary school in the Ohio Valley. The office staff and Principal are very rude. The principal is the worst of them all. She has no compassion nor professionalism. As a principal she should know that talking about a student in public, about a health condition is wrong and against the law!!! I have since withdrew my child and I can't wait to have the opportunity to talk to the school board and superintendent !!!!

I have been a very involved parent in this school for six years. We have a Talented and Gifted program in our school that challenges the accelerated studdent. There is also the Acclerated Reader Program the principal has instituted with the help of the PTO. The music and art needs to be expanded more where students could showcase their abilities outside the classroom. I think the principal and the teachers are great to work with and are the best in our local area. The declining parent involvement I think is due to the fact that we have single parents that hold a full time job which usually includes working shifts. Also, families where both parents are in the home, are also holding full time jobs.

In 2010-2011, the Ohio Department of Education used the Value-Added Measure to show how much growth students made on the Ohio Achievement Test since the last school year. The state expects that student test scores will show an average year's worth of growth compared to test scores from the previous year. Ohio's Value-Added Measure is not the same as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), a federal measure which uses different criteria.

About the tests


Ohio uses the Performance Index to provide an overall indication of how well students perform on its standardized tests each year. The Performance Index scores are based upon how well each student does on all tested subjects in grades 3 through 8 and 10. Schools and districts earn anywhere from 1.2 points for each student scoring at the advanced level to zero points for each untested student. The Performance Index ranges between 0 and 120, with 100 as the statewide goal for all students.
