Perhaps the parent below doesn't truly understand the methods and goals of Montessori teaching. While things may look unstructured, things are setup in a way that encourage self direction and exploration of the materials provided on any given day. This lends itself to 'doing because I want to, not because I have to'. While there will be distractions on any given day with a room full of school aged children, the ability to stay on task and complete your 'work' is a skill that will endure a lifetime. I was absoutely thrilled to find out that most of the teachers are parents of children in the school, this brings a sense of community and caring to the building. Everyone there is striving to get the best out of each child and that is very important to me.

The preschool is not a traditional Montessori (the school appears to be associated with, but not accredited by, the American Montessori Society) and was very child-centered and unstructured. We had some issues with the lack of structure and teacher control in the room--often, it felt like the kids were doing whatever they liked, and the classroom could get loud and out of control. I'm not sure how much our child actually learned in this environment. The elementary school seems much smaller than the preschool, but the teachers appear to come from a variety of backgrounds, as they are all the parents of children currently enrolled in the school. Overall, this has been a disappointing (and expensive) failed experiment, and we are looking forward to starting another school in the fall.

A great school! We can't say enough about it. The school includes a pre-school and an elementary program. The pre-school is a wonderful, nurturing environment. It's a perfect balance of play, socialization, and learning. Just as impressive is the elementary program. It's divided into two classrooms, a 1st through 3rd classroom and a 4th through 6th. Montessori has great teachers and a wonderful, enriching, stimulating curriculum. I can't say enough about what they do. Our kids spent one year in the public schools and begged to go back to Montessori.
