I am really disappointed to read the reviews on this site. I graduated in 1962 from Wyoming with an excellent education from great teachers whose names I'll never forget. The education I recieved at Wyoming I found to have been better than the education my children got at one of the top private schools (tuition now $35,000 a year for high school) in the country located in Pasadena, CA. I was a "B" student, played three sports, was active in Art Club, Library Club, Y-Teens, Secretary of my junior class, an arch bearer and stayed up at least to 11:00 pm every night to get my homework done. If students or parents are dissatisfied with or feel the education they or their children are recieving then they need to work with the school to make changes. I"ll always be grateful for how the work I had to do at WHS made college courses seem like a walk in the park. My rating is based on my personal experience from long ago and with the wish that all future reviews give WHS an excellent rating.
This school is trash. We focus on to getting ready for the Ohio achievement assessment way more than it is need and when we score we score high but not as high as we should if we should sense we study it so much..As a student in Wyoming,we excel in math and reading, but that is about it.I would recommend going to walnut hills or a private school where they actually help you learn. Also in the 8th grade science is a complete waste. You already learned all the criteria in the 5-7 grade,so all you do is review.Their are people who sit in class and text well the teacher watches them and the don't get in trouble it is a rule you can't have your phone on you.this is why most people fail chemistry in the 10th grade. The home work is at least Two hours a night and you don't even check over it in class the next days to come.they also don't take it for a grade.I know most of the things i said in here are negative, but it is all true.Wyoming is a great community to live in but,the school is just bad. I hope this review was helpful to you.
It is a very good school. It is not a great school academically. Both of my kids graduated from Wyoming High School. They got excellent support from the school overall. But few of the teachers could do lot better. The allround development of the students is good.
I'm a recent graduate of Wyoming, and although I think that I did receive a good education, it was definitely not as excellent as it should have been. The focus has shifted from loving learning and preparing students for college and adulthood to doing well on standardized testing. Many excellent teachers are not allowed to teach outside the box and instead must 'teach to the test'. I got great grades at WHS and scored very well on all tests, but I arrived at college at an academic disadvantage compared to my peers. That being said, I enjoyed my time there and I am still very close with all of my friends.
There is no doubt that WHS offers a highly competitive academic curriculum, has a solid extracurricular and enrichment base with significant parental involvement. Where this school falls short, however, is with regard to its support for kids with LD. The new principal is the best thing to happen to this school in a long time, so I am hopeful that thins will improve.
I think this school is absolutely amazing. My daughter excels in all of her ambitions due to the teachers and communities support.
As a former graduate, and current parent of children in the Wyoming schools, I can vouch for the high quality of education offered. It's a bit of a struggle to afford to live in Wyoming, but we are doing it for the kids.
Rated #4 in country among all high schools, and it deserves it. I have 3 kids in the system, and each is treated as an individual. Teachers and administrators are the most dedicated, caring professionals you can find.
Best school district in the state--and one of the best in the country. Kids and teachers have good attitudes, and a great demographic and income mix. Strong languages, arts, sports, etc.
