I have four children in grades 5th through 12th. Coming from Texas schools the education is terrible. My children spend more time watching movies brought from home or sitting around talking while the coaches go over their next play. Their is never homework and our children that live in this school district are suffering because of the lack of direction and poor quality of staff. If you are not a 'favorite' then as a student you are considered a problem.

The school itself is a good school. Sometimes you wonder where they get some of their teachers though. They are not a very organized school either. Students paperwork sometimes gets lost, my child has to turn in a copy of his shot records every year for the past 5 years. They also have favorites as far a students. Some get help and some don't. Parent-Teacher meetings are a joke. Half of the teachers are never there and when you do speak to one all you get is same old thing. Just that the student could do better but never a solution to the problems just the problems. My child does not like the school and is not very happy with some of the teachers.

My daughter is receiving a below national average education but above average for the state of OK. She is a sophomore and has received a national award and a state award for her scores in standardized tests. The school system is in a impoverished area and is in serious need of funds. The new High School building was desperatly needed (the old building was a fire hazard) but has used up ALL the available funds from the school system. I would rather my daughter go to Achille School than any of the other High Schools withen a 30 mile radious.

About the tests

In 2008-2009 Oklahoma used the Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests End-of-Instruction (OCCT EOI) exams to test students in high school in several subjects. The results for reading and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The OCCT EOI is a high school graduation requirement. The OCCT EOI exams are standards-based tests, which means they measure specific skills defined for each subject by the state of Oklahoma. The goal is for all students to score at or above the satisfactory level on the test.
