Check the Great Schools rating for Beggs High School. It is a 2 out of 10 and is based on the test scores of the students in this school. Beggs is building a 2.3 million dollar football field but cannot afford enough teachers to teach anything more than what is required by the state. Some parents have tried, without success, to obtain a higher standard of academics for students but have met with resistance. Beggs does not have a foreign language teacher but has an abundance of coaches. Do a comparison of the schools in Okmulgee county and you will find most out-performing Beggs in academics. Something is not quite right here.
Awsome School system and awsome Principal
Beggs is becoming the BEST school in Okmulgee County by far! Teachers are concerned with each students success...and the academics are becoming top notch.
Best school in academics since 2006 theyve really stepped it up at that school
I graduated in '05 and thought that I was doing fine until I moved away and actually saw what other schools were like, beggs is a fine place to play football and not much else. Students are apathetic. As for performing arts forget about it. Had I the opportunity to go back and change schools I would willingly.
I graduated in 1986 from this school and was very prepaired for college. I would say that the teachers, courses, administration and the support of the community of the school is outstanding. Better than anyone I met while attending college and while following my child through his education at Beggs.
While attending school at Beggs High School I felt like my teachers respected me and wanted me to be successful in my educational endeavors. However, once I got to college I found out how very unprepared for college I was. Beggs offered courses that they say are AP courses or accelerated. But these courses did nothing for me in college. I was behind and struggling. The accelerated courses were just not relevant to the college classroom. All other things considered including extracurricular activites, for a small town they do offer a wide variety of highly supported sports, arts, and organizational activities.
