We did not grow up in Chatty or Oklahoma for that matter. We drove through and loved the small townfeel and decided to try it out. Our children flourish at Chattanooga Jr High & High School. The teachers are able to get to know each child individually and are able to give their time to them when needed. Sport is very big here but not 'everything'. The town is very proud of their kids and they show it by attending every fundraiser/even that the school has. It's a very supportive school and community and I'm am thrilled we decided to move here with our children.
This school is not for children with any abilities in anything other than sports. It does not encourage the arts and the classes are taught by the same teachers 7-12 grades. Having the same teacher year after year is not a good teaching skill.
I have a child with special needs that is considered gifted and talented by the State of Oklahoma. Chattanooga High School does nothing to assist this child in the way that he requires. They have no programs available for such a child. But Hey! They have a brand new basketball gym, and baseball field. What does a real education matter anyway?
This is a good school for kids whose parents are friends or family with admin, for those who aren't prepare your kids for being left out of everything. Your kid might be the smartest but they won't get a chance to show it, and your other kid might be the best athlete, but they'll never have a chance to play here unless you know the right people. Chatty is a multi-generational small town of royalty and pheasants. There is no middle class here, so if you're new in town guess where your kid 'belongs'? Don't move here, no matter what your income bracket or education level is, you and your family will be treated like trash.
I think it is a excellent school
