Checotah High School is a school in which sportsmanship, leadership, and dignity are not important. Neither the students nor the faculty exude class, and also not important to teach. The students are of lackluster quality.

At Checotah High, students learn because teachers there care about the students, they know that the students are their future. Also, at Checotah High school, they have a lot of extracurricular activities, that they offer including award winning BAND and choirs. It's clear that the academic and fine art programs out do their sport programs, with exception of the softball team, which was named Oklahoma Academic All-State Champions today!(5-1-06) As of the parental involvement, it needs to be better, there is nothing wrong with parents being involved with their child's school. Checotah High School is a great school for children of all ages, and I would recommend it to anyone who asks.

The quality of Checotah's academic programs is excellent. They have recently introduced 2 new AP programs. The is in addition to their already established AP Chemistry. These AP teachers are outstanding and do not get nearly enough credit for the work they put in. If your student has the want to learn, these teachers have unlimited knowledge to prepare them for college. Checotah has a great music program including award winning band and choirs.

The principal is very old fashion. She rules the school with her old ethics. Tries to shelter the kids into their future. Not very good atmosphere. Students not nice. Teachers not friendly or creative. Sports seems to be #1 over academics. Not very good electives for high school. Very clickish student body. Gossipy adults.

About the tests

In 2008-2009 Oklahoma used the Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests End-of-Instruction (OCCT EOI) exams to test students in high school in several subjects. The results for reading and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The OCCT EOI is a high school graduation requirement. The OCCT EOI exams are standards-based tests, which means they measure specific skills defined for each subject by the state of Oklahoma. The goal is for all students to score at or above the satisfactory level on the test.
