My grand daughter came from an okc school and had detemtion almost 3x a wk! Since coming to Wstfall,.she has not had detention at all, her teachet was very encouraging and helpful and answered all our issues. She.recomended she rpeat rhe first grade.because she neefs more attention due to the non learnin at the.other school. This.school demands respect and there is a lack of that in our society today! Keep up the good work!
This is a strict school compared to most. There are some good teachers but also bad ones. They have a detention policy for children. If the parent forgets to sign the child's take home agenda 3 times, they can get detention. If the child forgets to bring a book to read after school and doesn't have it out reading it 3 times and gets caught, they can get detention. This school has so many rules that it's hard to keep up with all of them. I'm thinking about taking my kids to a different school.
There are some good teachers here but there are also some bad teachers here. One in particular felt it was necessary to discipline my child because I would forget to sign one of the several folders that needed to be signed daily. She also felt it was okay to leave my child alone in the classroom while the rest went to the library because he couldn't find his book. The principle was more concerned with backing the teacher than finding a solution to the problem. She also has the tendency to insinuate that the parent must be a bad parent.
My daughter goes to Westfall and I love it. There are no discipline problems. The school is very strict but thats good. She has learned alot and they keep the parents informed too!
The principal and office staff are wonderful and caring. I must agree that 'some' teachers do not practice or model the respect they demand of students.
My son loves this school! Teachers encourage the children to be themselves as an individual! Fantastic!
The principal is making positive changes that me feel more welcome and comfortable as a parent. A couple of teachers are very insensitive to students and parents. Teacher websites are awful! Info re: Homework, spelling lists, etc should be posted. Teachers do not necessarily practice the Life Principles that they teach.
After a year and a half there we had to pull our children out for the sake of their mental health. So many BAD teachers and they made my children feel so bad about themselves. Claiming all kinds of things happened, test after test causing him to go into a deep depression. But after a while at a new school and some retesting, he was back to normal and no more problems from him or in school. Thank GOD we got them out. Criste
The pre-k program has definitely prepared my child for kindergarten. The teachers are very informative and the children enjoy being in the classroom. My 3 year old also attends speech at Westfall. The speech teacher is AMAZING, I have seen drastic improvments in my son's speech in just a matter of months. The PE program is one of the best I have seen at the elementary level. Staff all seem to be involved and motivated! So far, great experience at Westfall!
I am very pleased with Westfall and it's teachers. The Pre-k program was very structured and was full of information for the children. The teacher was fabulous. Kindergarten has been definetly full of learning the first nine weeks. The teacher's are some the most patient people of all. I do wish they would offer more assistance to some of the children who are struggling, not just the indian after school program. Some of the other children could benefit also. Thank you for everything Westfall
This school has some of the most caring teachers while having high expectations for their students. They use various methods in which to instruct the students so that every child can learn.
Having been in 3 different school districts/schools, I have to say that Westfall Elem families are among the most friendly and welcoming. The teachers are loving and caring yet the school in the whole lacks the strive for high quality education. No child left behind is definitely not in their everyday efforts when teaching our kids. We have moved from the district and have found that 2 out of our 3 children are having to play major catch up. The principal is highly educated yet is severly lacking social interaction with parents, needs to attempt to make parents and families feel more welcome. She needs to learn how to smile.
Excellent school. I have had children attend schools in Texas and California and this one is the best elementary school we have been associated with. It is a 'Great Expectations' school and has alot of parent involvement. The district has a program for advanced students that is also very good. They alternate between PE and music every other day.
We love this school everyone is so involved! We came from Edmond schools and the teachers here are so much better in every way!
