Any teacher at Cushing Middle School will meet, by appointment, with a student who is struggling or needs help. All parents need to do is call and leave a message for the teacher of that subject and make arrangements. We cannot help if we do not have a request to do so.

Cushing has an internet gradebook program that allows parents to check their student's grades daily. The only requirement is that the parent get a pass code from the counselor. The public library has internet access if there is none at home. All teachers have e-mail, as well.

I have appreciated the help I have received from the staff at Cushing Middle School. During a difficult time of sickness with my family, they were all more than willing to accomodate me with grades, counseling, and information about how to help my child. I am very satisfied.

I have a son that attends this school and I'm very disappointed in how they handle situations when you child is struggling. You ask if they have tutoring classes and their 'idea' of tutoring kids is put them all in one room with maybe 2 teachers that not necessarily are teachers in the area that your kid needs help in and they call that tutoring instead of letting that kid go directly to that teacher to help before or after school. You would think going to small school teachers would have more one on ones with their students but at Cushing middle school this doesn't seem to be the case. I agree with the first comment that the school doesn't let you know anything until progress reports come out or report card. It would be nice if Cushing would get their systems upgraded instead of being behind time.

I have a child who is intelligent, but is taking advantage that I do not get weekly updates on grades like I did in elementary. I don't know what his grades are until I get a progress report or a report card. I am getting the shock of my life this 3rd 9 weeks. I called 4 weeks ago and asked to be put on notification if my child has below a B, and was told that it would be relayed to the teachers through e-mail that if my son gets below a C, I should be notified. I was told that a C is average, and it is too harsh to monitor it if it gets below a B. Today, he comes home with an F on his report card, and I had no prior notice that it was that bad. This is not sitting well with me.

Fortunately, the Principal is retiring. Maybe the school will start to truly meet student needs now that he is leaving!
