I attended WI from K-5th grade, my husband attended from 1st-2nd, and my daughter is a 1st grader there, having attended Pre-K and K at WI. It's an excellent school with caring teachers and supportive administration.
I would rate Washington Irving a 9 (no school is perfect) out of 10. Our town is growing at an alarming rate and the school population reflects this. Durant Schools has made many saftey changes in the past year and our school is much safer than in the past. The teachers love what they do and this shows in the classroom and the students performances. Children are happy at WI and this credit goes to the staff...from the janitor to the principle. It's a team effort. Parents are welcome to volunteer in the classrooms, at fundraisers and if possible on fieldtrips and they know they are a valuable asset to the school. Many things go into making a successful school and I believe WI has many working in their favor!
