This is adding to my one responding to the parent talking about 5th grade and adhd..At Sterling Up to 6th grade is still grade school but they offer alot and do alot like 5 n 6 th grade has to learn to play a insterment a band one they have to it a class there fixing to have a talent show and a holloween carnival..Andi think they take transfers they r not the type to turn good students away. And have never been rude not once to me.
we encourage everyone to do their best, help one another, and cheer each other to success.
I think Elgin is a very good school becasue it has so many things to offer each child. It not only has sports but extra activities the young men and women can choose to do along with a great acadimic program. The school as well as the city is a fast growing community.
Mr. Garland has assembled and developed some of the most vibrant educational programs I have come across during all my moves working with the military. Staff is accessible and extremely helpful. My son has been there from first to third grade. His teachers were Ms. Greenup, Ms. Webb, and Ms. Derringe, respecfully. They all nutured my son during a tremendous transition from a first grade in Germany where he spoke only German to the bright and successful English speaking third grader he is today. Hats off to a caring, but still challenging Elgin elementary school. Jay Bohnet
As a military family this is going to be the hardest school for my children to leave and everyone there has been so welcoming I will always be gratefully for the loyalty the teachers, principle and staff have for the children
I am a former elgin owl myself and my girls all go to school in elgin. I have one in 2nd and pre-k. I think elgin is a wonderful school and has alot to offer anyone.
My son is in going into the 6th grade and we have had no problems with the school, he did not like one of his teachers in 5th grade, but that was about it(who hasn't at one time or another) He made good grades. It was a big jump from 4th grade to 5th grade or perhaps I just wasn't ready for him to be so responsible???
My son was in the 5th grade last year and we hated everyday of it!! He is now in the 6th grade and we still hate it. The middle school is awful!! If you are an outsider or if your child has any (ADD, ADHD, seizers, behind in reading or math) issues he/she will be treated awfully! Hopefully we will be transfering again soon. I do have to say although the middle school is awful the elementary school is great. I have to agree with everyone else on that one!! That principal and staff are wonderful and truly care about the children and their education! Wonderful special education program there.
Great school!!! Principal is on target with the quality of education!! Wonderful teachers! They are very caring and all work together! Although Elgin has a WONDERFUL elementary school their middle school is a different story!
Good teachers, good admin. all work together for quality education.
