I believe hugo is a superior school, to have such a great school in our area is a testament to the dedication of the teachers and administration!

Have you been to Hugo High this year to see what is happening? The school board and superintendent wised up and hired a principal with experience in Oklahoma and she is working hard to make a difference. The teachers seem to understand that she is there to support them and they are teaching this year at a level that they have not strived for in the past several years. The students are great, they just need to realize that the education Hugo High is offering them will help them be successful in the future and that attending school is important. Hang in there Mrs. Golden, principal and Mrs. Shanklin, assistant principal - the community is behind you!

I am a former student, who enjoyed Hugo High school. The teachers are very devoted to their students. The discipline in the school is also beginning to strengthen as harsher rules are being enforced. I recommend Hugo, if you want a diverse, challenging, or devoted school. Yes, the administration has room for improvement, but the school itself was a great experience a an athlete, and a honor student. I moved from Granville Ohio 7 years ago. Granville was a top of the line schools, very wealthy, and given a blue ribbon from the president of the United States. I came here to a major change, to realize a school doesn't need all the blessings in the world to be a great school! My name is Adam Sparks and I am proud to be a Hugo Buffalo!

I am a former student of Hugo High School... I graduated in 2007. Hugo High School is not where to send your children. The Administration changes from year to year... it is horrible. The only subjects that are taught well are English and Honors Math. Mrs. Gee, Mrs. Copeland, Mrs. Lemons, and Mr. Moore are wonderful educators. Arts are not encouraged by the Administration and are not supported by much of the staff, as it is in most of Oklahoma everything is about football. The Band program is also horribly lacking as it has been through 5 band directors in the last 7 years. The marching band has 40 max. The jazz band and the football team are this school's only asset.

My children have attended 2 of the highest ranked school districts in the state prior to moving to Hugo, and we have actually been pleasantly surprised. Parent involvement is sorely lacking, but the teachers themselves and the majority of administrators seem genuinely committed to providing the best education possible. Emphasis on the arts is lacking at the school board level, but it has been our experience as a family that motivated learners and involved parents = quality education. It is the responsibility of the student and parent to seek out additional opportunities for learning, but the classroom instruction is solid and the school environment safe. Principals are very receptive to parent concerns. Concerned parties should turn to community volunteerism to improve our city and bring in commerce. More money will inevitably lead to more programs!

I graduated from Hugo High in 2002, and at that time I thought it was the greatest, most fun high school in the world. Now, I realize I only thought that because it was sooo easy and you didn't have to put forth any effort to make the grades. If you want your children to fly through high school with straight A's, then Hugo might be the school for them. But if you would rather your children actually learn something, I would consider taking them elsewhere.

I have been to a few different schools, and Hugo High school, is the best school i have ever been to, the teachers actually help you, and the principle, and councilor is there, if anything is needed, Hugo high school is not a bad school, it's the students that are not wanting to learn.

I really Believe that the Alternative school is better for the children in Hugo. The teaching skills are very low( with some exceptions) the year I went to hugo high, my friends and I protested outside the school and no one listened to any of us. The faculty at Hugo High school only care about the money not the students, or at least thats the way the super intendent is.

As a former student, I have only one thing to say about Hugo Public Schools: Revamp. I did not receive a poor education there, but I am more self-motivated than the average student. I was an honor student in Hugo and in college at OU, but I flunked out of OU because Hugo did not prepare me for college. College is about how hard you are willing to work, not how smart you are. Until the teachers at Hugo High can motivate kids to want to work hard, college is a pipe dream and without the promise of college in the near future, high school, especially in a place like Hugo, is more likely to turn into high school... Kids with potential need to be ridden to tap that potential. The effect will be contagious.
