Kellyville Upper Elementary School

I personally like KV Upper!! My children have attended a few schools and it is the same no matter where you go as far as parents not getting the outcome they are looking for in every situation! I have a 4th grader and a 6th grader at this school. My 4th grader has severe ADHD and in the past her teachers simply had no tolerance for her...(she has no behavioral issues unless there is a change in meds) This school year both of her teachers Janice Leugenbeal and Darla Speck, have gone out of their way to ensure that my child can learn to the best of her abilities and the correspondence has been great!! I do see a HUGE problem with bullying and do feel that these issues need to be gotten under control; but my children have been treated wonderfully!

I must totally agree with the first reponse... There is definitely no discipline and when there is not in the proper ways. The principle always has to ask the teachers in every decision he makes. Can not make any decisions on his own. (Dolezal) The rules do constantly change as well. And what they call study hall in which is suppose to be for the children to go and make up work if they so choose too it is more of what they always want to use for punishment. I am one who went to this school and it has absolutely went down hill in the last few years. The worst outcome that I have seen has been 4th - 6th grade where my children were always being punished for something even the small things that didn't amount to anything. In hopes for a more loyal principle.

The school has no discipline. The principal is more interested in the kids liking him than he is with controlling the kids. The parents control the school and the teachers have no control. The principal must ask the teachers about every decision he makes. He cannot make a decision on his own. The kids do not do their homework and that is why the test scores are so low. It is not the teacher's fault. I put it squarely on the shoulders of the principal. The principal constantly changes the rules so the kids have no idea what the rules are today.

This school is a disappointment. Last year (2005-2006) our daughter was in the fourth grade. They spent the whole second part of the year studying for the state test. What happened to the rest of their curriculum. In reviewing their scores, this study time was a waste of resources. This year our daughter is in the fifth grade. They are already being 'taught the state test.' How can these test be verified and give a clear picture of how our children are learning if they are being 'taught the test?'

academics is great. lots of sports for a small town track and volleyball is offered. lots of parents support
