I have had wonderful experiences with the Lone Grove School system, Even when my child had done something I would not want to brag about it was handled with fairness. Also, I would like to add the the special education department does do their job in a professional manner. At Lone Grove, I know my child's education and safety top priority!

In my opinion if you have a child in special education I would look elsewhere for their education.

We just moved to Lone Grove, and our son entered as a new senior. That's tough. But not if you're at Lone Grove High School! Our son said that it was easier to make friends here than at the Christian school he attended. He stated that the students are more respectful to teachers/staff than what he's used to. The academics are strong, extra curricular activities are awesome, and parent support is amazing! And we are not affluent, as one review commented, so that has no relation to our experience. I have also been a substitute at the elementary school, and find the staff very positive and supportive. Go Longhorns!

I have never been around a town that was as accepting to new people as Lone Grove. I think the school system is one of the finest in the state. Academically strong. The Arts, Band, Speech and Debate, Sports and Music programs are some of the finest I have seen. I am impressed with this school system!

The entire school system as well as the community really did a wonderful job in taking care of the students who were affected by the 2/11 tornado. Caring school.

I graduated from Lone Grove many years ago, and my children and now my grandchildren attend LG schools. Lone Grove has come a long way, and improvements have come gradually. There was a time, there were a few teachers that should never have been in a position of influence over children. The one problem that seems to endure is the policy regarding fighting (zero tolerance). This means that your child is not allowed to defend themselves at any cost, or they will receive the same punishment as the attacker! I have taught my children and grandchildren the same way that I was taught, never start a fight but always defend yourself! Staff never seem to see the first punch thrown, only the victim fighting back! I could accept 'zero tolerance' if there were always someone to protect each and every child, but that is not realistic.

We are proud to Long Horns...Our parents, cousins, aunt and uncles all attended lg and what a great school....The coaches are helpful and encouraging and not to forget to mention the academics are fantastic as well..My children have learned so much and with the helpful teachers and staff, they have made my children feel welcome and encouraged...We moved from a small town and by no means did that school have what lg has to offer.... I would recommend LG to everyone.. Nice town, friendly people and spirits! Go longhorns!

I am a parent who has been part of 2 other area school systems. I see many comments about it being hard to 'fit in' to Lone Grove and I disagree. At times I think children believe they do not fit in no matter where they are. Besides...the school is there for educational purposes...and as far as that goes...Lone Grove is great! I think they have caring teachers and a super fine arts program.

Lone Grove is a great school! My kids love their teachers! The leadership is the best in the state. The school has outstanding academics. The extracurricular activites are amazing, all the way from music to softball. You can't forget the amazing band program either! The facilities are great. You can't pick a better school!

This school, I feel has a good academic curriculum, the sports are good. Your child must be able to fit into lone grove school system. I feel there is not enough support for children at lone grove whom are disadvantaged in areas whether it be financially or disadvantaged in other areas. I believe the school system as a whole should look at this problem. My children had went to lone grove school all their lives until last year. Lone Grove should treat all students equally, which this is not how it works at Lone Grove.

I am a student at Lone Grove high school, and it is very easy to tell that Lone Grove is one of the better schools. I have attended school here all my life ,and I like it more then ever. The teachers are the best in the state. Lone Grove has great buildings to educate the students. I looked on the computer the other day,and Lone Grove was one of the only schools in the area that had reached the 70 percent mark in the state testing. Lone Grove has great band, music, and speech programs also. If you are just moving to the area, choose Lone Grove Schools.

I am a senior at Lone Grove High School this year. Last year, it was decided that we were returning to a seven period day. Many of the students, myself included, didn't agree with this. The block period was put in to help raise test scores, and the scores had raised. When the student body confroted the school about the 7 period day, they basicly ignored us. Many students are wishing to transfer out of Lone Grove because the school system refuses to listen to the group that is being most influenced by this change. Tell me this, is that a good thing? I don't belive so. This is not a personal slam against the school, I just wish to place a student's opinion. In general, the school is good, I just think the school system should listen to the student's opinions also.

Lone Grove works well if your child fits into the small-town Oklahoma mold: otherwise you might have serious problems. Having a family history in the area is a big plus.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Oklahoma used the Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests End-of-Instruction (OCCT EOI) exams to test students in high school in several subjects. The OCCT EOI is a high school graduation requirement. The OCCT EOI exams are standards-based tests, which means they measure specific skills defined for each subject by the state of Oklahoma. The goal is for all students to score at or above the satisfactory level on the test.
