The high school faculty has supported my child during difficult times. I feel this is much in part due to my diligence. I stay involved and try to encourage positive interaction between my child and staff in effort for her to receive the foundation necessary to reach her individual goals which include college. I have had to do research in scholarship and testing as result of poor school counselling and feel that they do not go any where near an extra inch let alone an extra mile for any students except those in the "click" or sports groups. I asked one teacher why my child was getting a lower than expected grade (does she have homework missing, etc.) and he replied "cuz it's hard". Not very helpful and full of "good ol' boy" mentality. This may be due to recycling highschool football coaching staff into teaching positions.

This school lacks not only current resources for its students, but a healthy growing environment as well. The entire community is extremely clickish and this carries heavily into the school system, with both the students and the faculty. There is a tendency to look the other way for students who 'fit,' causing greater distress for those who don't. My student is luckily a child who 'fits,' but my younger child does not and the frustration is unsurmountable. This school needs to work on its education more and worry about their 'clicks' less.

Obviously the only people who have rated MHS must work there. This school lags behind other schools in the area. The sports programs are very limited. The school community is very clickish. The music program is embarassing. The teachers change frequently. If I had to do it over again, I would have sent my children to a different school.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Oklahoma used the Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests End-of-Instruction (OCCT EOI) exams to test students in high school in several subjects. The OCCT EOI is a high school graduation requirement. The OCCT EOI exams are standards-based tests, which means they measure specific skills defined for each subject by the state of Oklahoma. The goal is for all students to score at or above the satisfactory level on the test.
