We've just moved into the district recently and absolutely love the school. The learning environment is great and I have already noticed a significant change in my child's attitude toward school. Great teachers, administration, and school.
This was a better ran school a couple of years ago but all has seemed to go downhill. Seems the office staff plays favorites with parents and kids. The principal does not seem involved with everyday happenings. A few years ago my child adored the principal and talked about how she saw her throughout the day etc.. Some teachers are an A+ but others seems to be doing bare minimum . This school has a lot of potential with counselors who care and a PTA that seems to have a lack of support but do there best. I hear the office staff dealing with a lot of there personal business in the front office or gossiping when I come in and if I see it that means the kids see it to. In a nutshell I am glad my child is moving up next year.
I love the teachers. They are very caring individuals. My daughters have prospered under them. The Assistant Principal is also a wonderful person. I have been very pleased with their educational experience.
School year for my first grader started out wonderful. He bonded with his teacher, wanted to take her presents everyday, couldn't get his homework done fast enough etc, then she disapeared. They brought in a string of subs, Papers were not graded. Lots of kids were upset and no counseling was provided. It seems with a little more communication and planning ,this unfornunate incident could of been handled a little better for these children in these crucial formative years.
We have had a positive experiance overall at Lakehoma, but this year has not been great so far.My daughter is now in the first grade. She was not apparently 'placed' until just before school began..I beleive it was because we mentioned we might be moving. It seems this class was the overflow. Her teacher was present for about the first 3 weeks, then 'disapeared'. There was little to no communication during the coming weeks and a flurry of substitutes were brought in.It was very upsetting for my daughter, and frustrating for the parents.Things seem to be somewhat better now,but this was a disaster that could have been avoided if there had been more talk between the Principal, and the parents.I'm still not completely satisfied with the way things seem to be right now. There is till not the level of communication there should be.
Having moved here from Virginia this school was a refreshing change. Teachers who care, Principal and Vice-Principal have morals and above all, love to teach. PTA is excellent and does a lot for the kids. I could not have asked for a better school for my children to attend.
Its a great school, great teachers, great foundation, it looks great, I love it.
