I am currently a sophmore at Newkirk High School. Our school is a great school if kids need extra attention in certain areas and its easier to get noticed for scholorship opportunities later on because of the small class sizes. We are also a very sports oriented school and community. In fact, our class 3A girls basketball team won second place at the state tournament in 2004-2005. We also have baseball, football, softball, wrestling, and boys basketball. We also have a good art program and a good band which is growing with each new year. The parent involvement is very high because the town of Newkirk is a tight-knit community. We are also a very safe school. I have always felt safe in our school system.

I attended this school as an alternative to a large, impersonal high school. I am still very happy with the decision I made, it gave me more confidence and leadership skills, because I was given more opportunity to be involved. Newkirk High School makes it easy for a student to get extra attention in areas that he/she is lacking, and the teachers are always willing to help the student, whether it be for school or personal issues. I'm proud to have graduated from this small town high school!
