One of the main issues I have with this school is the "testing" At the end of each unit there is a computer test. Your kid has to get at least 80% in order to move on to the next unit. The promblem is when your child scores less than an 80% they are able to see the correct answers. When they retake the test, it's the same questions and as long as they can remember the correct answer from five minutes ago, then can pass the test without actually retaining the information. The other thing is this school hands out straight A's to practically everyone. My kids did B/C work and somehow managed straight A's and ended up on the honor roll. The books/computer format for this school could be great. The adminstration fails the kids by only being concerned with state testing. A good chunk of everyday is spent on study island working with a very boring database of math and reading questions, so the school looks good when the kids take the state tests. The school should spend more time teaching out of the books and the kids would do fine on the tests. This school is all about making money and state testing, education kids comes way behind the other two goals.

The school overall had been a good fit for our children as was both challenging and thorough, however, they changed school districts this year and there has been a lot of confusion (between teachers, administration, and parents) as well as misinformation. Our daughter, who is always straight A's was incorrectly given an F (which was later fixed) in one subject and a C in another subject, based on conflicting dates (website and information provided). I don't feel like we ever get timely responses from the administration or the responsible teacher (in this case). Her teachers are very nice and overall, it has been a good program. Hopefully they are able to work through their issues and become more consistent and fair in their process.

OVCA has challenged my children to be their best in every subject. They are given the time they need to learn the material but they are not held back when they are ready to move on to the next lesson. We have only been a part of the Elementary school level but this is our 4th year and my children and I plan on staying with this school for the foreseeable future. Our teacher has been wonderful and she has always listened to my children and responded to their needs. The staff is encouraging and since you are the learning coach, you are aware of what they are learning on a daily basis. Monthly outings are becoming very well though out and my children enjoy attending them. Overall, we have had an extremely positive experience and I recommend it to anyone who wants to try an alternative to brick and morter schools. It isn't for everyone (there is no one cookie cutter approach in education) but it has worked for our children and many others across the state. :)

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
