I am a teacher at Grant. The staff is absolutely the best. Tamie Sanders is our claim to fame!
Began teaching this year at Grant..they are working on a lot of reforms that equal to a lot of paperwork and meetings. None of which equal to improving student learning. Teachers are overwhelmed with paperwork and behavior problems. There is very little parent support...very little admin support.
As a current student, I feel it is necessary to admit a review on this school. I love this school with everything that I have. Every school has it's flaws but this one can control them. My teachers whom I have had have always been there for me and I could always talk to them no matter what. I am challenged in my advanced placement classrooms. I am proud to be a U.S. Grant General!
I am an aluma of Grant and think that the teachers and staff are some of the best I've ever seen. They really care about see their students succeed not only in school but in life. Especially the Senior Marine Instructor, Major Weber, of the school's Marine Corps Junior ROTC program.
i have a student who attends grant and i want to know why he never has homework
this school is the best i've made alot of new friends and reunited with the old, even though ive only been here for 4 months. i went to chhs for the begging of my freshmen year i learned alot over there but when i moved over here they said that i had an additude problem but i really dont. i love usg so for the people is more friendly than at chhs they give you mean looks and all that kind of stuff. happy to be at u.s.g
I attended Grant for four years. I had the opportunity to experience the transition from the old building to the brand new one. Overall it is a great school. Even though not everybody speaks english and there might be some troublemakers (not to mention its underfunded) it is a great school. If anything it gives students a little taste of real life, with real problems.
This is a great school for what they have to deal with, it is under funded and has a majority of kids who cant speak english or who's parents dont care what there kids do, the principal is great.
I attended Grant for 2 1/2 years. They were the best years I've ever experienced while attending school. The Dance course they offer is a great experience, I was in that course for two years. The after school activities are excellent, I enjoyed being a part of the cheer squad because we loved that school no matter what! It is a great school to send your children despise the rumors going around. ~Jennifer Martin~
I think U.S Grant is the best school. I learned a lot of good things by going there. But some people miss judge this school by looking at few students. There are a many after school programs. They even got AP and honor classes. 'so pleas do not judge a book by it's cover.'
I attended Grant from 1996-2000. It was a pretty good school in my opinion. The school gets a bad reputation from here-say, which is unjust since most of the people talking bad havent even set foot in the school. Some of the sports teams and clubs suffered from lack of funds, and the school was a little run down, but it was a good experience for me.
The Level of quality at Us Grant is Very high I personaly think we need to talk to every parent in to putting their child in MCJROTC program. The school needs to think about making room for the rotc drill hall and physical training room. the kids that have rotc has to train outside in the cold depending on how cold it is outside. I think we need to be put in a building that has a heater or somthing in that nature.
Grant high school is neither terrific or horrid, but it is what your child makes of it. Yes,some of the teachers need a wake up call, but there are many great faculty members. The MCJROTC program at Grant has been the best disciplinary solution to high school students that I have ever seen. I would encourage students,if they attend Grant,to become a part of the program. The diverse student body may be looked at as a 'bad combination', and is thought to be one of the leading problems. It Isn't,but rather the kids can not get past the stereotypes that people set before them, hence they fall into that stereotype. I would reccomend this school.
Grant is the best school in Oklahoma. The teachers are good and teach you stuff for everyday life and to prepare you for college. The principal is awesome and really cares about his kids past and present. They have activites for everyone to get involved in while the two main ones are football and leadership that I was involved in. rant was the best 4 years of my life and I would do it over again in a heartbeat.
Us Grant Highschoool is a spectacular school. The students attending the school lack discipline at home so they tend to bring it to school. This is not at all in any way the schools fault. I have attended grant for 2 years now and I have also attended Western Heights highschool. I transferred from western heights to attend grant, so that must show something. Grant has so many extra-cirricular activities to choose from. Grant has a wide variety of students attending there and that is why it usually has negative remarks. It is like any other school, all schools have the good and bad teachers, students, parents, and staff. I personally love attending Grant because there is so much to do and they have Ap courses as well as honors classes and I think I have greatly benefited from attending this school. The faculty makes learning fun.
I have had three children attend U.S. Grant High School during a ten year period of time. and I have not seen any improvement on the teacher's part to be helpful or even care if their students understand their assignmments or pass their classes. My child is a senior at the school this year and is attending the Metro-Tech Vocational Classes at the Springlake Campus, I have been more impressed and felt like my child learned more with the teachers and staff at the vo-tech than she did all 4 yrs. that she attended this high school. This school lacks in teacher's involvement and support outside of the classroom where their JROTC Program is concerned. Hopefully once the new building it built at this school it will attract a better quality of teachers that care if their students succeed or fail in their studies. Unless this school does a major turnaround with it's education programs I would not recommend that your kid attend this high school. I would like to also say that none of my children were trouble makers or got into trouble at this school so my comments are not directed at any certain teachers.
