The neighborhood of North Highland is full of challenges and contrasts. Very high unemployment, low home ownership, high crime and gang activity, high father absence, one in six children raised by grandparents, two thirds of children are poor, fifty percent high school drop out rate, high adult reading deficits all combine to make life a challenge for all residents. The school is in turmoil. However, they have an amazing new principal that is trying to clean up the staff and make the school a decent place to drop off students.

My school is making the mission possible with a Principal that is determined to see positive change. We are on the mission to become a school of choice for OKCPS students and parents.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Oklahoma used the Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests (OCCT) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and grades 5 and 8 in science and writing. The OCCT is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oklahoma.
