I was a student at this school and I enjoyed it. Many of of the classes and teachers I found great, especially if you are in the AP classes (I find it so cool that the have those). I know many of the teachers personally and sometimes still go there to see them (I'm in 8th grade now). Each one of them I talk to still wants to know how well I'm doing in middle school. I do admit I was picked on, but it was an issue with me and the other kids. I personally don't think parents are involved enough though.
Stonegate doesnt care about any of my child at all. he was picked on and verbal abused all the time. I was in the principal's office all the time. I tried to get a transfer, but was denied by over 12 schools. The wouldnt approve me for an out of district transfer. So we moved. This school shouldnt even be open
I removed my child from Stonegate due to the lack of qualified teachers. This may be in part, due to the lack of leadership (principal). You can see it when you attend any of their functions. The place is a madhouse, completely unorganized. If your chid is scheduled to attend Stonegate, please research & consider the other available options.
I attended Stonegate and was fortunate to have some of the best teachers. Stonegate prepared me academically far better than my later years of schooling, as evidence by my Stonegate class' consistent high test scores. I encourage you to enroll your student in the 'honors' classes at Stonegate. Such classes will challenge your student and help them to thrive academically.
I have 2 childeren in this school this year-we moved here. I think that the intentions are good and supporting for the childeren but that my childeren are not being challenged enough, the staff is great, but the kids need more challenge
We were a Stonegate family since my child was 3 until he was 9 years old. We transferred to another school this year for several reasons. We felt that our child wasn't getting challenged enough academically. Our child had been in the honors classes every year and never did work that made him think. Several children in his class was behind academically so then the other children had to suffer by doing work that they had already been exposed too. The teachers are all very supportive and try to help each child. The level of parent involvement was not very good. We had several class meetings to go over what the children should be doing and the participation of the parents were small and most didn't seem to care much about what was going on. We also worried about when the school closes how things would go.
My son has attended this school for the past 5 years. Our experience here has been excellent! If this was a K-12 school, he would attend until graduation. The quality of the staff, and their attitude is awesome. I have recommended Stonegate to several families, and never heard a complaint from any of them. I wouldn't hesitate to offer any and every type of support possible to this great establishment. Wish there were more here in the City, just like it.
So far the school has been very good, despite my initial concerns. The teachers that my child has had have been very good and concerned about the children s education. The appearance of the school is what prompted my initial concerns but after my daughter started those were lifted and I m proud to have her there. She loves the activities (honor choir, strings) that she participates in which go to different locations in the city and perform.
This is a very good school. My daughter loves the teachers and the principal there. They staff are very involved and care about the students.
I would not reccommend that any parent send their child to this school. My child was repeatedly assualted physically and verbally. And the principal refused to do anything to the children involved. Instead she chose to punish my child by keeping her in at recess if she felt unsafe on the playground. Because of the unwillingness of the principal and faculty to provide a safe environment for my daughter I ultimately transfered my daughter to a different school where she is thriving. I have also known many other parents who have either transfered their children or chosen to move to enable them to attend a different school for the same reasons.
