Teacher effectiveness: Somewhat effective

There are a few gems in this school - top notch teachers that create and foster great learning environments. But there are also a few that should be put to the pasture or find another profession as it is clear they really hate their jobs.

School is for learning, home is for family. I understand "make up work" on missed days or finishing up something you didn't finish in class but I do not believe there should ever be homework beyond this.

Staff is very disinterested in the students. They treat them like peasants without any courtesy or respect. Why would you be surprised that the students, in turn, treat each other just as awful?

Teachers regularly turn a deaf ear to students being mean and hateful to each other. "Middle school is tough" is their reply. In other words, at this school, learn to grow a thick skin and become just as mean.

A student took another student's notebook off a stack, scratched out the name and wrote their's in. When the owner of the missing notebook told the teacher it was missing, the teacher dismissed him. He saw the notebook in the hands of this student and told the teacher. She made the kid give the notebook back but did nothing beyond that. This is 12-13yr olds! They are old enough to know right from wrong. Stealing is stealing and should always be treated as such. (BTW, the student did have a notebook in his bag, he just felt like stealing.)

The school is great, opportunities are numerous. However the school student body is BRUTAL. Seems majority of girls are hateful for just the sheer purpose of being hateful. They will go out their way to belittle another student and it doesn't even require knowing them or them saying anything to them. Mean. Most of the faculty seems to think this is just part of school and turn their heads and ignore it, thus making the problem worse.
