The curriculum promotes 'thinking' not just memorization. The teachers plan their to promote higher level thinking. The children become actively involved in learning. It is a great environment for parents that want to participate in their child's learning. The teachers are all top notch, many are nationally board certified. The school's excellence is reflected in the achievement scores of the students. Sangre is simply a great elementary school!

What a fabulous school! My children have attended from Kindergarten through 5th grade at Sangre and I cannot imagine a better education anywhere. There are a huge number of National Board Certified teachers and the quality of education certainly shows!

The pick up and drop off system is Nightmarish! Like anywhere, there are good teachers and bad teachers. But I've experienced a level of staff apathy that continues to surprise me.

Academically speaking, this school is right on target. The teachers are very helpful and understand what your child needs based on their grade level. The music and art programs are great too! The kids go to a local art/media center twice a week and learn by listening and doing. The options are greater because the art center has the tools needed for a large variety of projects, saving the school lots of money. Parent involvement is very high because most of the moms in this district do not work outside the home. One problem that I have with this school is that, since it is in a very affluent neighborhood, they expect all of their students' families to be well off. Unfortunately, part of their district includes low-income neighborhoods. This puts a financial strain on the families, and stress on a child who feels uncomfortable with friends from wealthy families.
