Springdale is very community oriented. We just had a volunteer brigade plant an herb garden, a flower garden, a vegetable garden, and other flowering areas around the school. We have family night movies, we have seasonal carnival activities, and our parents turn out in droves to watch their children perform. Teachers work very hard to prepare these students for the next school year and spend a lot of their own funds to make sure they have everything they need to ensure the success of every student.
Springdale looks at the individual child, assesses needs, and provides what every child needs - from math and language arts to hugs and smiles.
I love Springdale because we are like a family. The staff takes care of each other and we care for the students as if they are are own.
Springdale is a truly great school for one major reason: the teachers. They are very supportive and make a great team who always endeavor to give the students the best education possible. They work above and beyond was is normally expected, and should be commended.
Springdale has been a real blessing to our granddaughter, she has improved tremendously and continues to. The teacher informs you of how your child is doing if you inquire. We talk to our granddaughters teacher daily--her teacher is awesome. When there is something we need to work on, she let's us know. The school is very supportive to our granddaughters education. I believe parents or gaurdians need to become more involved with the teacher and school. Awesome school
Springdale is trying to catch up with the rest of the state. However, the problem lies at homes of the children. First, it has the highest Hispanic population out of all TPS. Then, as a result most of the parents don't speak English, therefore the students enter into kindergarten only speaking Spanish. Next, the children seem to have some disipline problems that spawn from their homes. Finally, the school is well staffed, competant and seems to be doing the right things to get back on track. In addition, there are excellent free tutoring programs, especially the Alpha Plus program.
I have been poorly informed of my child's daily routine in the classroom as well as his progress. I think the school needs improvment in keeping parents informed. It's a nice school, always clean every time I have been there though.
