Waurika High School has an outstanding Ag. Ed Program and FFA Chapter. They are involved heavily in their community and state. It is clear to see that these students are not just learning about agriculture, but career success, leadership, hard work, and confidence. There is no doubt these students will be our next leaders. Kudos to Waurika High for having an outstanding FFA Chapter!!
I had the time of my life while in school here... It had great teachers, small classes... etc....
If Waurika's school is poor, that must explain why they were the Academic State Champions for 2005 and are working toward a repeat for 2006. Also, art, art appreciation, and other facets are taught, and offerred both in the middle and high school. Waurika consistently graduates 'Oklahoma Academic Scholars' and has high ACT and state testing scores. No gangs, a little mischievious, but solid, down to earth students from mostly good, hardworking people. Of course, there are a few grumps mixed in also.
I think Waurika's academic programs have improved greatly over the years, they are now where I expect them to be for a smaller school. The band program, although underfunded, gives a great environment for kids to learn and have fun. The parent involvement is not as high as I would like it to be, but that is not the school's fault, it is the parent's.
I think that the quality of Waurika's academic programs is very poor. They do not have a very wide range of music classes that are offered. They do not have an art class at all. Parents are not involved in the productivity of their children at all.
