My brother and I both went to IMS and we both loved it, I am in high school now and my three years there were the best years of my life, I know IMS is no longer but I feel like it shouldn't take a bad rep. I loved my teachers and the principles they were AMAZING!

My child has thrived at IMS this year. He came from a small rural school that only had 12 kids in his class. The teachers are challenging and really help him keep interested in his school work. He is very smart and sometimes a little too arrogant for his own good. His teachers and the rest of the school staff have dealt with him appropriately. He is making straight A's and could have not done this if the teachers weren't doing their jobs. Thank you to IMS.

When I had problems I literally had to go above the principals head as she was very rude and the way she spoke to me my jaw dropped! The do not take their bullying problems serious especially when the principal call the children names herself. In my opinion it's one person here that causes a lot of the issues. A good ship can not be run with out a fit captain.

I find it very difficult to understand how any student or parent would have anything negative to say about IMS the teachers or admin. This is a hands on school that goes above and beyond to make sure every student obtains their potential. They go above and beyond to make sure every child is motivated and recogonized. CHECK OUT THE MILLER DOLLARS PROGRAM!!! My children have attended IMS in 6th 7th and 8th grades and the admin went out of their way to make sure every need was met for our children. Parent involvement is a key factor here. If you are not participating in the activities at IMS you and your child are missing out. GET INVOLVED!

Gives a good basic education and produces well rounded students.

Since students at Independence Middle School don't have to wear uniforms, I think that school is great. Also the teachers and students are very nice!

I don't know what is wrong with all of you, thinking that IMS is a bad school. I went there as a kid (as well as my siblings) and now my kids and nephew go there. The teachers and staff are great and will work with you on anything! They all care what happens to all of their students, regardless of their academic status. All students are treated equally; AP, Pre-AP, or regular classes, all of these are great classes with great teachers.

I went here in my sixth, seventh, and half of my eighth grade year. This school is the reason I hate Yukon. I am, and was - an educated young man. I'm an artist, and very expressive, but the staff at these schools expect everyone to be the same, and to be subject to their will. I'm well-mannered, and very courteous, but I could not stand to be smothered. To say the least: I was paddled four times, suspended for six days, and had a total of 79 days of in-school suspension. If you want your child to be open-minded, and feel unafraid to express themselves - do not send them to Yukon. I'm glad I made it out. And, by the way - I graduated at the top of my class when I moved. I did terrible at Yukon. 'Just sayin'.

This has to be one of the worst ran schools in the area. Yukon has the reputation for being a very good school system and IMS is a joke. The grade schools are wonderful which makes it harder for the students as they enter a middle school that is ran like this one. One thing that I am sure of is I am not alone in the way I feel by reading the other reviews. The staff speaks very harsh to the students. The principals do not talk to parents with respect and they will not admit to any wrong doing by other staff. It almost seems like a lost cause and the people who loose are our children. Sending my child everyday to this place makes me feel like I'm not doing my job as a parent.

I find that this school's administration is unresponsive to the parents. There is a severe lack of communication between students, faculty, and parents. There seems to be no organization to anything done at this school. Sporting events are very poorly organized and often Kaotic at the very least. I never know when my child will be coming and going from the school's events . I usually find out the night before the event. That is not a lot of notice! I don't recommend this school. There is something very wrong here and there needs to be some very real changes in administration here to get things to function as they should.

This school is ill run, Has poorly organized staff, and gets a big Zero for Princiapl leadership. I am completely blown away as to how this school continues to run in such a poor and uncooperative manner. There is little communication between staff and parents. There is a complete disconnect at this school between the way this school runs compared to other schools in this same district. I do not recommend this school to any parent concerned about their childs well being or educational quality.

I really wish my child did not have to go to school here. It's a nightmare everyday. The Principal's of the school use very questionable practices with the students. I have 3 studends in the school and have found the Principals do not do their jobs to help you unless you are a somebody in the school. They pick on and bully students of their choice. The school in general is very unorganized, irresponsible, and poorly run. this is not a school I would choose to send my student to if I had a choice. There needs to be some major house cleanning in this facility. However, since everyone in this school protects each other I don't ever see that happening. In my opinion, this school will never be anything less than unfair, inadequate, and poorly run. Acedemics are just as bad. Athletics are very poorly run and supervised as well.

I am not happy with this school to say the least. I have a 6th grade student who by all accounts has never had any trouble in school. There is not one good thing I can say about my sons first year in middle school. The teachers are not helpful to all students. It is a very pick and choose enviroment. The leadership at the school is not a positive one. I could never get a straight answer on anything that was going on. There were always so many sides to every story and the childs view point was never taken seriously. The staff is out for one another not for the benefit of the child. I have a very strong child..I don't know what would happen if he was not. I am sad that he will be returning. It is againnst my better judgement.

The school staff and faculty have zero organizational skills. Everything is done off the cuff, there is not preparation for anything. There is no communication between teachers, coaches, parents, and students. Activities are always a disaster because they never know when they are leaving or returning from events. All notices are always last minute, You are lucky if you even get information the night before there is something going on. Teachers do not seem concerned about students or talking to the parents about their concerns for their children. IMS is by far the worst school my child has ever attended. It is also the worst school I have ever had to deal with.

I am saddened at the fact that despite all the education the school has about special needs and IDEA and the NCLB that some children are still severly slipping through the cracks in this school in this state our population in this county in the state grew over 103% this past year and we still allow our kids to suffer. I wish to continue on with the schools here in Yukon they are a pleasure IF you have a child who is in all accelerated courses but a child in need is placed on the back burner and forgot that they need an education and deserve it just as much if not needed more than a child who can function I came to a very sad realization the no matter how hard I try to prepare my child for the world there will be virtually no hope post school.

My son goes to IMS and has had a great experience. We came to IMS from another district and we have found the administration and staff to be very helpful.

To be a 4.0 student at this school is a walk in the park, I know, my child is one and he never cracks a book or brings home any homework. This school gets a unsatisfactory rating in Principal leadership from me. They are not attentative to the students needs, the administrative staff is extremely lax at resolving any problems presented to them, the teachers are unresponsive to students and parents, the teachers seem to care less if the students learn or not, If I had any choice of where to send my child to school, It would not be at IMS. This school needs some serious administration changes.

My child is a 4.0 student at IMS and hasn't acknowledged a bullying problem. Overall I believe that the administration and teaching staff do a decent job. There is a severe problem with accomodating students who excell. Accelerated programs grossly lack adequate funding and support.

The bullying in this school is way out of hand. The administration tends to blow it off. My son was having trouble with a boy and we went to the asst. principal twice about it and nothing really was done until he and the boy got into a fight. Only then did they take notice.Their academic's are also lacking, there math programs are the worst I have ever seen.
