I am very excited and proud of our students. This year, 3 of our 8th grade students won $1000 each for their robotics work in the national science competition E-Cybermission. Another student won an American Meteorological Society award for her research that was presented at the Intel Science Fair. Our students won the Judge's Choice Award for their underwater remotely operated vehicle. Not to mention the work of our Science Olympiad students who medaled at state. On the athletics side, the middle school basketball team won in division, a track member won first in state and several others also competed at state. That's just the "extra" stuff too. I am proud of the work the environmental science students did on nearby Butternut Creek. They presented their research to the City Council and have made more plans for the future. Students in the middle school won awards for Math, Debate, and Writing. Students also performed fantastically at the State Fine Arts Competition, along with one student who won the Golden Key Award for her artwork.

Attended for 3 years and are exploring other options. The absolute best part of the school are the teachers. Every one we have had is caring and the class sizes are small and there is a caring emphasis. The majority of the parents attend the church and there are many clicks at the school and big time parent/staff favoritism. It is a safe environment but we have had issues with the majority of the parents and many of the staff. The school is growing and evolving, visit the lunchroom for a pop-in-visit and make your own decision. It is also not uncommon to see some of the older more favored students roaming the hallways. There is zero parent involvement and volunteering is next to impossible. There is little communication and communal fostering unless you attend the church. I would offer a negative review if it were not for the Teachers. If we had not had so many issues with parents and staff we would stay. If you have no intention of being involved in the school or parents and are looking for good teachers and a small environment then LCS would still be a good option.

Best school on the planet. It's safe, it's pro-active and they know how to think outside the box and understand the kids as individuals.

We Love Life Christian School!! With strong academics, passionate teachers who genuinely love and care for our students, amazing leadership, and great extra curricular activities, Life Christian School is a cut above the rest. We're very impressed with the teacher's attitude of the individual learning style, the teachers focus on the student's strengths and abilities in order to use them to reach their highest potential. They do a lot of project based learning along with the use of technology. The students are so prepared for college, in fact their average SAT score is 1771, that's higher than the national average and also Oregon's average. We also love the fact that our high school students go on mission's trips every year of high school, they can choose Mexico, Africa or downtown Portland, and last year some went to India. That's just another way to education our students and also teach them about serving & giving to others...it's an experience they'll have for a life time. We are beyond blessed to be a part of this wonderful school!

Life Christian School has exceeded our expectations and hopes. For the first time in our child's school life she LOVES to go to school (3rd grade.) In her past two schools, from her 3's and 4's to pre-K through 3rd grade, our daughter begged and pleaded to NOT go to school. Life makes learning fun. Each child is appreciated for their individuality. This is not your typical one size fits all school. LSC emphasizes the different learning styles and gifts of each child. As a parent, I am extremely impressed with the friendly, loving, and highly professional Principal, Teachers, and Administrators. p.s. The 3rd grade teacher is the most dedicated, composed, cheerful, intelligent, informed teacher I have ever known. Principal Taylor knows how to pick high end teachers.

This is a school with vision. I love that they work on technology so that my kids are prepared for college. Incredible staff including a principal with direction, strength and wisdom. Office staff is amazing and so nurturing with my kids. Diverse group of teachers who work together in teams in order to share their unique gifts.

We love what is happening at LIFE. We are so pleased and feel such peace about our children being part of this neat community. This is our first year at LIFE. We looked at many other Christian schools but we felt Life was different. The leadership is outstanding. They seem to see each child as an individual and are committed to helping them grow and reach their full potential. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the staff seem to truly care about their students. Our kids are shy and the office staff has helped them feel like they belong. They reflect Christ in each classroom and place a huge emphasis on helping our kids grow spiritually and academically. As former home schoolers we were skeptical about a traditional classroom setting. Our kids are thriving and the classrooms are filled with innovation and very often they are having fun learning. Our son has struggled with reading for many years and he is making huge progress. We are relieved and ecstatic about his success. We feel blessed to be part of this community.

Life Christian School is THE top school in the Portland area!! The teachers are exceptional and the best in the state, dare I say, nation? This staff meets daily to ensure that collaboration, teamwork, mentorship and critical thinking goes in to every decision. This staff works HARD. I know, because I was on it, and am terribly sad to leave! My family moved to another city, and I am desperately looking for a school that even closely resembles the GEM that this school is. Know that your child is getting the academic, spiritual, emotional, physical, and social growth that they need to succeed! This staff is highly motivated to integrate technology into each subject matter from elementary through to high school. Each classroom is carefully planned for differentiated instruction and project based learning. This school is moving, growing, and adapting to the most cutting edge techniques available in the area and state. I am sad to leave, but excited to return to see what happens in the next few years. Innovation, creativity, and a deep love for Christ embody this staff. Aspire, pursue, impact- that is the school motto. Seriously, check out this school.. Love, a former teacher :)

We absolutely found excellence in academics, leadership and spiritual growth for our kids at LCS. The transformation that our two boys have experienced over the last 5 years on the school campus has blessed them, blessed our home and will most assuredly bless their future. We are greatly honored by God that He lead our family to this be a part of this incredible school. We are also deeply honored by the staff that works daily, faithfully and diligently pouring into the lives of not only our boys but the lives of every single student on campus.

We enrolled our daughter in the Fall of 2012. She had an awful expierence at her first preschool she attended, so we decided to enroll her at Life. She LOVED every second of every day she went there. Her teacher was Mrs. M. All of the parents are wonderful, the kids are all kind to one another, the principal is exceptional, but the most amazing thing about this school was Mrs. M. She made my daughter feel welcomed, loved, and very special. She learned so much with her teacher encouraging her every step of the way. God is very much alive in this school! My daughter has a love for Christ that grew greatly during her days at Life. We moved to California in Nov of 2012. This school is the thing we miss most about living in the Portland area. It was the best expierence for our little girl. Mrs. M kept in touch with us and our daughter after we moved. This was such a blessing! It made her feel secure and loved, even when her world was changing. Life Christian and Mrs. M... the work you are doing in these young children's lives is phenomenal. Thank you for loving our little girl and teaching her about life through Christ!

I am really excited about this school. We have worked so hard this year to create an amazing science and technology program. Last year our Science Olympiad team placed 4th in state. This year we have a student presenting science research at the Oregon Academy of Science Conference. This summer several students will be doing research at local universities. The great science also extends to the elementary school too. The Elementary School is having a school wide Stars and Space month that will focus on integrating science across all of the curriculum. The school has integrated use of a web-based Learning Management System. This helps us to connect students with the classroom outside of class and allows for greater student participation and helps to make sure the learning is 24/7.

We love the school!!! The new principal has made many great changes. But with that she only focuses on new families, there are so many of us that our children have been at Life way before her. Since per-k and kindergarten ! I would love to see her appreciate us too! I feel it is all about what you can do for her and how much money you can bring in for the school is how you get treated... So many NEW out of pocket expenses!,

We feel so blessed that God has brought our family to Life Christian School! The principal, teachers and staff are extremely dedicated to providing a strong educational experience to our kids at the elementary & middle school grade levels. Also, they are committed to providing biblically based guidance in all facets of their learning environment. We love this school!!

I love this school!! I was blessed with the opportunity to attend this school for many years and grew spiritually and academically. The teachers genuinely care about the students and want them to excel. Taking the college courses made a huge impact when I went off to college. Not only did I know what to expect, but I already had college credits going in as a freshman. This school is AMAZING and it is obvious that God s favor is upon it!

Life Christian School has a new principal that started the 2012 school year. We had left a school and were homeschooling when a friend told us about the great things "Life" was doing. I was skeptical but realized that my children needed the social aspect in addition to academic. We went in and interviewed the new principal and grilled her on every possible scenario we could (my husband works in education... he knew the right questions). We left the school that day speechless. We knew immediately that God had brought us there specifically to be a part of the amazing vision this school has. I will say that if your school doesn't have a vision and a plan of attack... then you need to ask yourself why you're there!! The communication is top notch, the principal Mrs. Taylor is beyond exceptional. She drives her staff hard! There are not enough stars above for me to rate how happy we are. And we were a tough sell. I noticed a comment about public schools and foul language. Remember ALL of the parents at Life want great things from their kids and ALL of the teachers are ready and willing to expect great things of your children. We are thrilled to be at Life Christian School!!

I am interested in this school for next year to get away from the vulgar/crude talk my kids are around at public school. My fear is though, that this will be anywhere they go. What are your experiences with this at Life? Do your kids tell you about inappropriate things their peers say at Life? I hear it daily from my 4th grader in public school.

My daughter graduated from LCS and I'm thankful to God for guiding me to this school. God blessed our daughter abundantly in this school. The teacher s first priority is the student s well being. The staff and the teachers really care about the student s academic life and their spiritual life. As for the curriculum, LCS has the very best. My daughter wanted to pursue pharmacy at a 6 year direct program so we moved her to the nearby public school. We thought this would provide her with rigorous courses like AP classes.. After going there for a semester we realized LCS actually offered better courses. LCS was truly a great blessing in our lives. My daughter got accepted into college and she is doing great mostly because of the solid spiritual and academic foundation she received at LCS. - Ivy Fredrick

To the Parent who posted on Dec. 9. I invite you to meet with me regarding your concerns. We may be able to resolve some of the issues you believe to be present. The staff has worked hard to develop our five-year strategy for where we will go as a school. It is our top priority to honor God. We believe we do this by educating our students with excellence. The three main areas the school is developing are technology, college prep courses and sports. Next year we will offer even more concurrent college credit classes and AP classes. We will communicate more information about this at our State of School address in January. To qualify for credit every class we offer must be at least 120 hours or more. We offer an advanced math track and have math all the way through Calculus on our campus this year. The block schedule has allowed flexibility to place our students individually, rather than placing all students of one grade in one class. We work to know our students abilities, and place each one in the class best suited for them. I welcome anyone to come meet with me. We have an excellent staff with an exciting future ahead. This school is struggling to find its identity. The school sticks students in study halls rather than offer them electives or an advanced math program. For example the 8th graders have two schedualed study halls. The block schedual means students actually spend less time in each class then they did last year. They were offering a an advanced math track last year but dropped it this year. The elementary school is better than the middle/high school. They only offer college credit classes through one teacher now and thats only everother year. They offer AP classes, but these classes are not the same as a college credit class to the colleges. Its a disapointment.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
